Thumbs up engine build revised

I've decided to stick with the LS1 and do a 383 out of it. I need some help with the right heads/intake to get... I plan on getting a custom grind cam from Tick.
My power goal is still 500-550rwhp N/A
Also supporting mods will include:
98mm or 102mm lid
Kooks 1 7/8s long tubes
Kooks true duals
built 4L60E or built T-56 ( I really want a manual)
quick performance 9"(3.73s)
Spohn extreme duty chromoly drive shaft
4000 stall
CTS-V brake up grade
either 09 Z06 SPyders 19X10/19x12 or Forgestar CF5 19X9.5/19X12
285/30/19; 325/30/19 Nitto Invos or Pirelli Corso Asymetrico
Bilstein Stage 2 shocks or KW Variant 3s
Eibach sport lines
BMR welded subframe connectors
BMR adjustable Panhard bar
solid motor and transmission mounts
tubular control arms
Hyper flex bushing set
BMR 32mm/21mm sway bars
Hawks ceramic pads
custom interior, paint and stereo

I'm looking at $40k-$50K hahaha

Looks like a nice build could come out of this. Do the manual you'll have more fun with it. Match the heads with the cam and intake to really make it work well together.

Where is all this mystery money coming from? I remember at least two of your threads about 500 h.p. builds and saw your car on the classifieds 3 months ago that you lost interest and $$ for.
https://ls1tech.com/forums/vehicle-c...ro-z28-ss.html

Every couple of months someone talks a big game on here about having 20k to spend on mods before they even have a lid on their car.

3 months...a lot can happen in three months like a new job or two new jobs with good pay and lots of hours and no extra expenses. My car is my only expense. What I make goes two places, my car and the grocery store. I don't have a credit card, I don't have bills to pay. Maybe it never occured to you that I'm young and don't have a family of my own and it took me a year working part time to purchase this vehicle in cash. But I really don't care what you think because no matter how many times I post I'm learning and gaining information on the right parts for my build before I buy them.

What kind of job do you work that you have no budget? I really must have picked the wrong profession.

That list of dream stuff doesn't even come close to 40k. Anyway, who cares where the money comes from. Create a budget and a goal, then buy the combination that best fits that plan. Otherwise, you're just pissing money away.

I would concentrate on one area first then move to the next....I started with suspension last year...now I am doing my motor. That's a lot to do at once. For that matter if you plan to spend that much and do not have a family...buy a Vette...Z06 for that kind of money.

Im also looking for that whp goal. Im going to buy a 408 rotating assembly for my LQ9. I have a FAST 92/92, and currently have ported 5.3L heads (may need to look into PRC stage 3 ls6 heads though), and im also looking to get a custom cam from Martin Tick.
Keep me posted on what you go with and what whp you make, Thanks

Absolutely, I read a thread on here by Patrick G who worked with Tony Mamo to make a 500rwhp LS1...great thread to read.

I want a C5 Z06 next, I know I could just easily buy a C6 Z06 or GS and be plenty happy. I want the experience to build a car from the ground up basically. The Z06 will feature the 2014 LT1 along with a twin turbo kit when it's made available....thats the plan anyways. I wouldn't be a member on here if I just bought a high horsepower vehicle from factory. Sure I could spend $40k on this build or I could wait a year and get a used ZL1 or the new Stingray. but thats not what I want. its all about personal preference.

actually it does come close to $40k... paint job alone is now quoted at $12,500...custom interior easily another $5k ..sound system is $5k $22,500 right there... That doesn't include body modifications, custom widebody, about $3k for wheels and tires another $1k for brakes, $2300 for KW Variant 3s, easily $2500 for a new rearend, custom fab work for the T-56 magnum swap, all the new transmission parts to go with it, over $10k for the motor cause its getting a brand new LS1 block that has to be bored out to 383 with top of the line heads, custom grind cam and LSX102 intake, kooks long tubes and true duals thats $2600 for the exhaust a lone. trust me $40k is easy with this build probably more.

ehh for 40k I could think of better things to spend it on, your list is based on unexperience....

for 10k you could get a way better engine than a 383...

And what kind of paint job cost 12k, now 7k for a factory style paint job is what Im used to seeing but not 12k.. unless I'm old school lol

Its 3 GM factory metallic colors with 8 layer clear coat. custom paint job.

and the reason I want the LS1/383 is because I want to keep it close to stock replacement. I know I could easily get an LS7 with an intake and long tubes and be at my power goal but thats NOT what I WANT to do.

Amen! I'm focusing on suspension now, in fact my wife is wondering why boxes are stacking up in the living room. but I agree, focus on 1 thing and do it right, then move on.

None of that is listed in your original post. And you're just spending money to be spending it on most of those things.

The KW V3s aren't great coilovers. In the BMW world, the KW shocks are merely okay, as long as you run Hyperco or Swift springs. KW progressive springs are not what you want. In F-body land, you'd be better running Konis and Strano linear springs. Seriously.

383 is fine for a budget build up if you reuse your stock block. Otherwise, use and LQ9 or an LS2/LS3 and work from a better platform.

I'm not sure what paint you're getting, what sound system, or what interior mods you're looking at, but that's not part of the engine build budget. That's why I said, you need to take a step back, plan out the money you seriously want to spend, and then attack it. Dropping serious coin on something like this should make you hesitate.

I assume you work hard for the money, so I don't really care how old you are, what your bills are, or what you do. Seems to me you could be investing this money and maxing out a couple of investment instruments (Roth IRA, 401k if avail, CDs, etc.) and could have a lot more money in 5-7 years to build the car 3 times over and then have money for other things in life. And if you have that much cash, you'd be able to invest a sizeable portion and still modify the car, just within a more well-defined budget.

That's my old man talk for the day. And I'm only 30.
