the preload wasn't all of the problem it was the springs they let the lifter "leave" the lobe of the cam and land on the back side which is very hard on parts

??? How does this happen, bad springs, big cam, preload? The cam was a 231 single pattern with around .570 lift. The springs are the isky 295D's, I never heard of the iskys doing this, or something like that happening.

i can only suppose that the springs couldn't hold the lifter on the lobe of the cam maybe wrong installed height, wrong springs, or the springs lost their tension or something all is supposition on how the lifter broke anf figuring that it was floated

We will be rechecking the integrity of the springs, as well as the installed height. They supposedly are good for the lift of the cam, but we have not used Isky's before. We prefer the Cranes or the Comp 977s because we've used them time and time again.

JS: We'll be checking them out. I don't want to point fingers at who did what, but this car had more than this one problem when it came in. The old headers didn't fit right it seemed, so someone did a good hammer job to his fender wells. It's sad to see things like this on these beautiful cars

Matt,I know how it goes but that car was worked on by JPR...
I'm sure there were problems other than the springs.

We enjoyed the plastic zip ties that held the wiring harness to the motor & other assorted accessories... and then in turn melted

Honestly I just have to laugh at this point. My life is just insane right now. I have the house closing on the 28th that I dont know how much its going to cost me, I have the car getting fixed that I have an idea of how much but honestly every turn is a turn for the worst (I really appreciate what Matt and them are doing for me) and this is the kicker. I woke up yesterday to a flooded basment. Water connector broke over the night and flooded everything , basment is finished , lots of damaged things .
ANYWAY!!!! I have also been digging into my PCM. There are things that I really dont like (Not PCM4LESS's fault BTW). JPR and Tommy replaced my computer awhile ago (I forgot why) and my broadcast code is now DAPA instead of the older CWJP. I had to get my edit cable reset and such but now that I dig into it it looks like a F'ed UP copy of a 2000 PCM was reflashed in there. My Fuel air multiplier is changed for some reason (anybody know why this would be?) and I just want to get it reflashed back to stock and start over. Who knows what other messed up things are in there. I e-mailed Ken about this also so I know if I will have to send my cable back to him to get reset..again. AGAIN, that seems to be a word that I am getting very familiar with, I have to pay for everthing that I already paid to have done AGAIN! At least my friend with his T/A is learning what road NOT to go down.

Does the VIN in your PCM match your car's VIN?
My guesses are that JPR had a single user LS1Edit and was reflashing his
customers PCMs with the same VIN so he could use the the single user
LS1Edit on it. He didn't want to fork over the $ for the shop version of LS1Edit.
I remember an issue with WS6TransAmGirl's PCM at on time, although I never heard all of the details of it.

Yes it matches. Edit does not use Vin information to lock it, it uses the PCM serial number or something. I dont know or care what they did I just want to get my car straightned out.

Mikey does not want to be in the middle of any conflicts that did not involve him or generate any bad blood with him and any other shops, so he has asked me to not go into too much detail since it doesnt really matter at this point I guess.

Just from the technical standpoint since I feel like I do need to say something:
Looks like a spun bearing, then a rod broke and went through both sides of the block. My "new" bearings looked very worn for the number of miles they had on them. I didnt notice a problem with oil pressure, but to be honest I wasnt looking at it constantly either. There is nothing on the bottom end that is salvageable (even my cam is screwed up and my timing chain broke --although that was probably after the fact). One option is to pull the 6 sleeves that look ok and have them put in another block, which Steve @ race eng has offered to help me out with. Mikey is understandably a little reluctant to get involved this way however, since parts would be put together outside of his control.

I dont know what I am going to do at this point, but Mikey is putting together some options for me.

Steve @ Race will fix your block, no problem *assuming it can be fixed*, he wouldn't fix it and send it out if he wasn't dead sure it would be fine
