Default 130 PSI Oil Pressure LS6

Hey guys I just bought a 2005 CTS-V last night and noticed the oil pressure gauge seem to be pegged out at 129-130psi. I have a mechanical gauge lying around in the shop is there any way to hook it up relatively easily just to check the pressure. Is the sending unit bad? Or do I have a more serious problem? Car runs and idles great. Any help would be great.

Sounds like the sending unit is bad, as when it fails it fails high.

Should be an easy fix as you can reach it at the back of the block without taking the intake out.

Yea, I would say the gauge is bad too. That's a crap ton of pressure. Even our race engines only make a max of 80 psi with 20w50 at high rpm.

I'd bet on the sending unit. Never seen a mechanical failure cause high oil pressure. Alot of Corvettes do that from what I've read when the OPSU fails.

Finally got around to installing it today. Works like a charm. Too bad I had to buy a $10 socket to uninstall/install.

Thanks for the help guys.

A $10 socket is a lot cheaper than what a shop would have charged to change that sensor.
