How much rock? Your statement is vague.

well, I don't have a way to measure, they rock just sliding them over the trunnion it seems excessive. Yes it is a vague description. I was wondering if someone would describe them as tight. No plans to install at this time, no reason to remove the comps at this time, going to wait till winter or signs of failure. thanks for the response I'll look into measuring the clearance when time for install comes

Your Comp trunnions already failed and you just don't know it yet.

They aren't extremely tight. Dry, they slide on and do have some movement to them. Remember, you need some clearance in there for oil!

It occurs to me that if they were "tight" they wouldn't get lubed and would burn up quickly.

It'll be nice if someone (professional engine builder) would offer to put the kit in correctly with lube/grease for you... instead of a average person doing them at home...

Well I'm no professional and I take offense from anyone referring to me as such...but I can and do install these for folks. So far no whammies.

It's just not really a profitable business unless you are installing them, too. Damn day job gets in the way too much!

Yeah I'd like to know this too, about to order a set and going to purchase some cam lube at the same time since I'm installing everything at once.

Hmmm I been thinking about this while im on my way to work..... I'm thinking you couldn't go wrong with a good break in oil... since its high in zinc but I still want a answer to the question and a explanation.

Assembly lube should be used, not oil. There is a packet of high pressure assembly lube in the box.

Yeah, CHE installs their brand of trunion. Most shops can install them as well since a vice or press is really all that's required to do the installs. It really isn't rocket surgery.

We put a packet of Driven Assembly lube in each kit sold.

The bushing clearance is much like bearing clearance, tight will lead to failure. The oil has to have room between the trunnion and the bushing. Maximum clearance is .008".

So is everyone torquing the bolts to 29 ft lbs or is anyone using the stock torque specs of 22 ft lbs?

22 ft lbs and anything more is just stretching the bolt.

Did you have to do anything to the LS7 rocker to install the bushings

I did have to open up one rocker, it was under size by about .0004 on both sides. The engine started life as an early LS7, but it spit a lash cap and damaged one rocker about two years ago. The undersized rocker was the newer one bought from GM parts, the original rockers were all on size.

I wonder why they recommended 29 with their bolts? They are your normal socket cap bolts.
