Post Heads/Cam Swap Parts Suggestions.

Hey all, getting ready to do a heads/cam upgrade so I figured I might as well upgrade the other essentials along the way. I wanted to compile a list and see what kind of input I can get. For reference, car is a 00 SS M6, TSP 1 7/8" headers, 3" Rumbler Dual Exhaust, Stock 243 Heads w/ Lunati 660 springs , Com Cams XFI-XE-R 281HR Cam.

Parts I have in mind to upgrade:
New lifters, 5315 Morel's or the Comp Cams "Comp R" for 20$ more.
Lifter Trays, LS1 but I read LS2 might be a better choice?
Rocker Arm Trunion kit
Timing Chain, LS2?
Oil pump, Melling High Volume or TSP ported LS6?
Intake, FAST 92mm and 92mm TB
Under Drive Pulley perhaps?
Balancer, Suggested ATI or Powerbond.

Should be a whole different animal after all is said and done

your list is pretty good. i run a tsp ported pump, slp 25% udp,
straub trunion kit, ls1 trays, and 5315 lifters.

Thanks, is the ported oil pump beneficial compared to the high volume one? They seem like they would be the same.

Did you do anything to the LS2 trays? I hear you have to drill holes in them for proper oil flow. Differences between an LS2 chain and LS1?

the holes are not necessary. i'm not sure on the high volume. i run
35lbs hot idle with the tsp unit. it's a solid pump.

Nice. I'm in Oregon so the weather itself is never very warm but normally it floats around 60lbs until it warms up then drops to 40-45 ish.

Two questions, where can I find just a stock dampener? They all seem to be underdrive. And is the LS2 timing chain dampener necessary or not? Thanks.

You won't be able to just bolt on the timing chain damper. You will need the adapter kit from Trick flow. I got mine thru summit

The ported pump simply reduces restriction, reducing hp loss, does nothing for volume. High volume will not be necessary, and would run into the problem of running the pan dry.

The ls2 chain is a little more heavy duty compared to the ls1, ls2 chain is cheap insurance.

I was actually looking at them on there already but which kit is it?
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/tfs-k30675600
This one specifies its for ls2/ls3 but the reviews say the guy bolted it to an ls1

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/tfs-30675600
This one specifies it is good on any LS block. The parts look identical but this last one does not have the tensioner included.

I want to say the first one is correct going off of reviews and that it looks identical to the second one.

The first one comes with everything and i bolted it to my 2004 5.3. The second one is the same as the first without the tensioner.

It will work on Ls1's also since the bracket bolts to the cam retaining plate.

Yep^^^ Came with new bolts as well. I'd recommend a new cam retainer plate as well. It's cheap insurance since your removing it anyways
