Default Thread chaser for main cap bolts.

Figured I would put this out after doing some serious looking. ARP makes a 10m x 2.00 thread chaser for LS main caps. Google searches never turn this up because apparently nobody advertises these things including Summit and Jegs. Talked to my local machine shop and he turned me onto where he got his because he had the same problem when studding out a race motor for a customer. Apparently they can only be found in ARPs paper catalog. The part number for the chase is 912-0014. And can be found on page 128 of their online catalog. http://arpcatalog.com/128/

Saw alot of threads on here where folks were looking for this thing and were having no luck as I was searching so here you go.

Default Bottoming Taps

Hi ALL, I buy my Bottoming Taps FROM McMaster Carr.

I buy several at one time, a five pack.
I sell this item from time to time when I supply billet caps.
What kind of Machine Shop would NOT have this knowledge ?

Lance

If you can get this from McMaster Carr please share the part number. I looked there directly and wasn’t able to find it.

A bottom tap IS NOT a thread chaser. A tap of any kind will remove some stock. A thread chaser will just clean existing threads

This.
It’s a thread CLEANER, not a cutting tap. Basically removes dirt, oxidation, and makes it pretty.

If you don't have a chaser take a stock bolt and slot it with a cutoff wheel and use that. That's what I do for long reach head bolts.

That's essentially all a chaser is anyway, a bolt with grooves cut in it for debris to collect in.
