346 high compression build
Agreed. If you use the age old 4% power increase per point, with an engine that has 400hp that’s around 70hp from compression increase alone going from 10:1 to 14:1. Obviously the more power the base engine has before the compression increase the higher the gains will be.
Hindsight is always 20/20, thats my biggest gripe about the rectangle port stuff is the massive chambers

3600#
3.73 gear
3600 stall 60e

cartek 2x 241 heads

runs 11.3’s in 3500 da full interior lol. Impressive little bastard
spent some time tonight cleaning up some casting slag in the Holley. I ordered some finer grit rolls and a bunch of cross buffs to really get it polished up nice.
Im debating on the ecu. The car already has a really nice stock gm harness and ecu I built for it, but I’ve got an ms3 goldbox xtra on the shelf meant for my s488 gto. The gm ecu will
donthe job but at the same time it might be nice to get some tuning experience with the ms3 stuff n/a before I go to the boosted car?
The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
Final step, wife helped me pull the ls1 out of her 73 camaro so I can get the block prepped. I set the intake on the heads and there’s a 1/16 of an inch or so lip all around the head port, so I’ve got some work to do on the heads for sure. Taking everything over to the machine shop for balancing
people, I used to do it after work for supplemental income for my hobby, but it started to get to where I couldn’t keep up and then the company I worked for went out of business so i said F it. I do a lot of ls swaps, budget turbo kits, f body rear ends, etc. I’ve been absolutely swamped and you can tell by looking at the shop, it’s a disaster this week and it’s driving me crazy.
I dropped the rotating assembly off at the machine shop this morning along with the heads to get decked another .020, making it .060 total and giving me a static compression of over 14:1.
I also ordered new 1/4 panels for the car and new wheel tubs so I can finish them.

I hope so! I’ve been wanting to build a high compression stock stroke engine for some time. I wish I had the funds for better heads, but then they would kick my compression In the nuts. Ed Curtis has given me some tips on head porting so I’m going to do a little more work to mine when I get them back. I’m ready to get this show on the road. I wish it was as simple as dropping it in the car and she’s ready but I’ve got some work to do to the rest of the car also. I’m really, really curious to see what kind of power this thing lays down.
CC’d my heads 3 times, came up with 52cc each time with the current valves. So that puts things ending here, as long as the deck height is right at 0 like I’m figuring.
