didn't you post a few days ago about oil pressure issues...

Knocking...does it sound like its coming from the bottom end? You may have hurt some bearings due to low oil pressure. Evil (on this board) had the same problem and he hurt his rod/main bearings from the very low oil pressure.

Drain the oil thru a strainer are there any metallic pieces left (bearings?)

Yes that was me with the low oil pressure. I cant tell where the knocking is coming from. The squeal i get from the engine makes me nervous. I plan on pulling the valve covers and checking the pushrods and springs. If they are good then i think maybe lifters next. I dont think I hurt the bottom end. Sounds more like a top end. I will drain. Its not a knocking like a spun bearing I've heard that before. I guess more of a tick than a knock. I did miss shift 2nd yesterday racing a stang. I just got nervous when i went to check my oil today and saw little air bubbles in my oil.

Sounds like you may have the infamous "Cut pick-up tube o-ring". Sucking in air around the oil pick-up tube?

When you change your oil, cut your filter open to check for chunks of nastiness. Don't use a hack saw (since that would "contaminate" the filter even as you were opening it up), but a set of tin snips instead (or, even better, a really big tubing cutter).

If you had oil pressure issues and hear a knocking from the engine, it's more than likely FUBAR. Well, time for a rebuild anyway.

I've only had the shortblock since january lets hope its not time for a rebuild. I honestly think its valvetrain. We'll know shortly.

Who said it was rod knock I think its just valvetrain related. I've spun my share of bearings and its nothing like that.

well let me tell you, when I called Mike today he seemed to think my 20psi at idle was normal so until I get word from ARE about where my oil pressure should be per Mike's advice I am not stressing that I hurt the bottom end. And if I did then who cares at this point cause to be honest I dont. Motors come and go just like woman do. In my opinion its the valvetrain. Like I said i will Know more in the morning

The car gets 40-50 psi on throttle i just wasnt seeing 60-70psi like most people. So its not like it has no oil. I was told not to worry about my oil pressure.

Just finished inspection of the drivers side and everything looks good. I started her up and decided to do the old screw driver to the ear trick and it sounds like the passenger side has issues, wishidid that before i tore the drivers side down but hey i need the expereince.

Now to begin the passengers side.Wish me luck
