Is the
Thunder Racing LS1 Cam Swap Package w/ Single Valve Springs Includes:
- Your Choice of Thunder Racing Custom Grind Camshaft
- Comp Cams 26918 Valve Springs
- Thunder Racing Stock Length Pushrods (7.400)
Suffiecient enough for the TR 224/224 .563/.563 112 LSA cam? I would also be using the stock retainers.

And using the stock retainers will not be a problem either? Anything else thats absolutly needed when putting in this cam? Also running untuned for awhile won't mess up anything, give me any idle problems, ect? I'd just not be getting the most HP out of the cam right? I have a MAFT that I could adjust the A/F ratio for the meantime.

Stock retainers are ok. Titanium would be better of course.
I ran an MTI C1 with stock retainers and Comp 918's no problem. I then ran the TSP231/237 for a few months with that setup- no problem.

Ok, I only have 35k miles on my car right now so it should be fine for now, maybe I'll throw in better retainers in the near future. Now I just have to wait till spring to actually install the friggin thing!!

I have 918's on my TR220. It's what TR recommended.
I picked up a set of titanium retainers off of the parts for sale forum. For $75.00 they are pretty easy to pick up used (retainers don't wear out, buy 'em used if you can).
918's and some titanium retainers will give you a rock solid valvetrain.

Would the TR 230/224 be good with the comp 918's? I want to get the biggest cam I can get with the comp 918's safely. It seems easy to break 400rwhp with that cam and thats my goal as of now.

Untuned my TR224 on a cold start will hunt for idle for 5-10 seconds, meaning the rpms will surge up and down from 850-500rpms. Once it finds idle it will run allright but you need tuning done. A tune from a tuner who knows what he is doing works wonders. The tune Mikey gave my car is awesome, it drives 98% just like I drove it off the showroom floor. I recommend you get some titanium retainers as the lighter the valvetrain the better. I would stick with the TR224 over the TR230 unless you plan on going with lower gearing, 3.73's or 4.10's. I called Thunder when I was in your position and they said the TR230 would be a dog with stock gears and it begged for a set of 4.10s. Since the experience I had with my 918s I will always now advocate a dual valvespring over a single all day long...........https://ls1tech.com/forums/generation-iii-internal-engine/165867-c918-test-pressures-4800miles-tr224.html

I think I am better off buying a Patriot Performance GM LS1/LS6 Dual Valve Spring Kit and wait to find a used TR224. I'd save a lot of money that way and get more for it. Thanks for all the help guys
