Default Solid Lifter Springs

I will be looking for a good solid lifter spring for about .650"-.700" lift and 7400rpm. What do you guys recommend. I would like something that would last with some street miles as well. Comp 999s, etc. I understand that there is a drop in solid lifter spring, will it be able to control that kind of lift at about 7400 rpm?

Someone has got to know. A better question may be what kind of seat and open pressure do I need for something like this? Maybe 250ish/650ish?

I am using a .730/.714 260/271 solid cam and we just set the springs up at 230 seat pressure and about 660 open pressure. I used a Lunati 1.550 spring...cant remember the PN offhand. But there are quite a few out there. Cutting 1.550 spring pockets is a little tricky...but that size opens up alot of alternatives for springs.

How much longer valve than stock do you use to get 1.9" to 2.0" spring height?

I like Comps Pacalloy for spring longevity, Manley has its own formula also that is supposed to be great for the money also.

You want a Tool Room Isky, Comp Packaloy, REVLOY, Nextec Manley all are high quality springs. These MOST of the time do not take an initial set and loose pressure.

Excellent, I guess the lift will determine how long they last. I guess once I decide on the heads then I will decide on the lift. Thanks.

Did you want to add PSI to the list?

They seem to use them over at APE, what have you heard about them. I know they are popular with nascar.

Yeah, PSI is fine. He is the fellow that developed the material and then went out on his own to do valve springs. They have good stuff.

What have you done/are doing to make your bottom end hold up to 7400 rpm?

I am running .100 longer valves. On my current spring setup with .730 lift on the intake and the way the springs have been installed I will have approx .110 left before coil bind at .730. It will actually be a lil more than that after setting .018 lash.

What springs are you running and do you drive this combo on the street at all? Also, are the valves 8 mm or 5/16" with new guides?

bud they wont work for a solid roller application. The whole valvetrain would probably jump out of his valvecovers
