Default Factory LS1 camshaft......??

I just had my cam swapped, but I have no idea what to do with my factory camshaft and valvesprings???

Is it basically paper weight now???

Pretty much garbage. I would keep it in-case you ever want to go back to stock for warranty repairs or to sell it.

Are you serious? I have one in the trash right now (2000) I could dig out. I've thrown quite a few out.

i tossed the springs and gave my cam to steve demirjian for his collection. also he doctored it for me

I hate to give away my ideas but might try this. If you have underdrive pulley's use your stock pulley and cam to make a lamp. 2 bolts and 2 washers will secure the cam to the pulley as the base. I cleared the cam, gloss black on the pulley, and bought a lamp kit at wal-mart for like $10. Since the cam is hollow it is perfect. Heaviest lamp I own.

yea, what does the stock cam weigh? my zip is 76051. figure shipping is 10 bucks maybe? i'll use the stock cam i pull off my car for the lamp idea

Well if you are in a smog **** area just make yourself a two piece timing cover and keep it to swap it out for smog checks.

I am really consider this. I wish I didn't have to.


My stock cam is sitting on my computer desk. Kinda a reminder of that weekend battling with dual valvesprings.
