Default pan off, should i replace rod bolts in my 00 c5?

GM wants 8.27 ea for 01 bolts. ARP are like 70 for all 16 but do they distort the cap? I know katech makes one but they are 120...

Depending on how high you are spinning it, IMO I would do it just for the added insurance.

It could change the bearing clearence. You also have to torque them about 4 or 5 times to pre stretch them.

If you are going to do it, use the Katech bolts. They are the same size as the stock bolts and do not distort the rod. Lingenfelter uses them because of this. Pay the extra now and sleep well at night because you won't be wondering if you distorted your rods.

yeah but 120 is a bit hard to swallow right now for me. I've got way too much into this thing in little cra lately. Id just leave stock rods if it's gonna cost me 120

They are? As far as I knew they were a weak link in our engines.

Well if we're on a budget, that probably means the motor won't be spun into crazy rpm's... For the normal street/strip racer they are fine. It depends on how much motor is in this thing... Sorry I should have asked first...

Definately. It's cheap insurance. Go the ARP route, much stronger than GM junk. And the install is easy. TQ to 40, back off, TQ to 40, back off, final TQ to 40 lbs. Do each bolt INDIVIDUALLY....

You might tell that to my friend who's rebuilding his engine now because a bolt let go. He was in a similar position and opted not to replace them. That $120 then is now $4,000 for an LS2.
