Default Edelbrock/Lingenfelter LS1 Head Images...Updated with Flow Numbers

The following information is a preview of things to come from Edelbrock and Lingenfelter on the LS1 Cylinder Head. They will initially be offered in three configurations, the Pro-Port casting [#61989] for professional CNC porting; the complete Edelbrock/Lingenfelter CNC ported head [#61969] and the CNC ported head bare, without parts [#61979]:

61989: Edelbrock Pro-Port LS1 Casting for professional CNC porting

61989 LS1 Pro-Port Features include:
-Machined to OE dimensions to allow for an easy transition with existing CNC programs
-Tall intake short turn and small intake cross-section for modern, high velocity designs
-Exhaust features extra bowl and short turn material to accommodate all exhaust port shapes philosophies.
-Merged rocker boss pairs for improved valve train stability and support
-Extra material in the spring pockets to allow machining for larger spring diameters
-Heavy deck thickness ensures optimum gasket retention and allows for milling of the deck for smaller combustion chamber sizes
-Newly designed internal water jacket allows for highly efficient cooling without sacrificing extra material and overall strength
-Versatile mini-chamber can be machined from sizes ranging 40cc to 80cc without fear of thin material
-OE quality powdered metal seats and Edelbrock proprietary valve guides installed
-Heli-coiled rocker stands and exhaust flange bolts holes

61969 : Edelbrock / Lingenfelter LS1 CNC, complete with parts

61969 Edelbrock/Lingenfelter LS1 CNC features include:
-High quality Edelbrock manufactured casting, complete with seats, guides and heli-coils as listed above
-Completely CNC machined by Lingenfelter Performance
-202cc intake ports
-65cc combustion chambers
-Stainless Steel 2.02" intake / 1.57 exhaust valves
-Comp 918 Springs equipped
-All factory sensor, accessory and exhaust locations are to OE spec for a true bolt-on installation
-61979 will be available as a bare version of the Edelbrock/Lingenfelter CNC head, finish machined minus parts

Flow Numbers and price will determine their fate in the tough LS1/LS6 market.

Great pics and info Jason....

Might make me put a set on the ole Christmas list.

From what I understand, the prices should be extremely competitive (read cheaper than almost everything else out there comparable) since Edelbrock has their own foundry and don't have to source in their cores.

Wow! Those look nice. I can't wait to see how they perform, especially compared to the other aftermarket heads on the market.

I also like the fact that all of the bolt holes are helicoiled. I wish the factory had done that to begin with. Right now I have two manifold bolt holes that are toast and I'm not about to pull a head again just to have em machined and heli-coiled again.

Quality doesn't come without a price and judging by our pricing we will comparable to the AFR. How close, I can not say, as we (Edelbrock) do not set the retail market price, only the price paid by our Distributors. But don't worry, we'll let you keep all your limbs and vital organs.

...all of which will be provided when we feel the time is right. Cores are in our machining facilities now and upon completion of the first production run I will provide data. We have performed very thorough dyno testing with multiple camshafts and Lingenfelter has also performed dyno testing on their end and we are confident that the performance will speak for itself. We know the LS1 market is very critical of price and performance and we also know just how good the competition is. Based on the quality of the product alone and the large investment by both parties, we wouldn't expect anything less than the highest of criticism.

Agreed, heli-coils are just one of many finer details that make this a well thought out product.

Welcome to the site Jason and Edelbrock! I seen your LS heads at PRI and look forward to some future testing. I especially like that you own your own foundry and casting equipment.

BTW I have some Edel. Perf. heads on my Turbo 5L Mustang and every time I tear up a motor, the heads have never been hurt and go right back on. Did have to replace the springs once, but that is all its ever needed.

Thanks Joseph, we're glad to be a sponsor...finally! Edelbrock has certainly cemented quite a reputation in the Ford 5.0L market and we look to do the same in the LS1 arena. Thanks for the support and hopefully we can earn your respect on the LS1 heads also.

More vendors for the LS1 market are only going to help. Please post up prices as soon as possible. The raw heads have me thinking.

Quickly on the Pro-Port castings, as they are in machining now. Complete, CNC heads will be four to six weeks after the Pro-Port castings are ready for sale.

These are the stock 15-degree valve angle. Altered, hmmmm, perhaps in a future Victor Jr. design
