Default 208/214 high lift cam

My brother has a 2000 chevy 2500, 4X4 pickup with the 6.0L and auto trans, only mod is a magnaflow muffler and no catalytic converters. He's interested in increasing power from idle to 5200 rpm,s , I think a 208/214 high lift (in the .550's) on a 114+4 comp cam would work well for his needs. I just wanted to run this by you guys to see if you think this would work for him.

look over in the truck forums. there's a cam thread for trucks over there. they would help out better in that respect.

112 will have more low end tq than a 114 lsa, but the idle will be choppier.

That cam on a 6.0L should be a stump puller if my assumptions on the cam specs are correct. I run a 206/212 .515/.522 112lsa installed on a 112 icl in my 5.7L. The torque increase is right off idle

Vinci has a bunch of truck cams, and Thunder Racing has this one that's intended for trucks:

I'd vote for going to a 112 LSA too. You can keep the intake opening the same by only advancing the cam 2*

Remember, a 6.0L will swallow a larger cam a little easier than a 5.7 (or even a 5.3L). Remember that when getting cam advice. You can go about 10 degrees more in duration than what would work well in a 5.3L.

I would recommend at least 212 in intake duration. You can keep the LSA at 114 if you like. You just want to put some advance in it to keep the peak power and torque down low. A 214/226 .559/.570 114 (+4) would work well if you're running exhaust manifolds.

Just thought of a question i should have asked from the beginning. What would be the ideal LSA and ICL to get efficient mileage on the 208/214 cam ?
