Default spring selection

The Texas Speed Torquer 2 232/234 .595/.598 112 LSA

The comp 918's are rated to .600 and I think I saw a max of like .620 on this site or somthing. Will these springs be my best bet or should I opt for .650 springs
Thanks
Britt

I would go with duals just for the fact that they are stronger, and youcan upgrade your cam if you want, and not have to swap the springs. On the other hand, 918's will lighten up your valvetrain, so I would base it on whether or not you feel you may want to go bigger or not.

yeah they should work i think the 600 is an understatement in the means of selling more double springs

While the 918's will probably work, personally, I'd prefer to install springs that wouldn't be operating at their pressure limits. There are plenty of good dual spring sets out there for less ($) than the 921's...

918's shimmed at least .050/.060 will work.
I'm using Platinums since they were on my heads.
I would advise to use a 7.425 p-rod with .054 gasket, to reduce valvetrain noise. (that is what I use and it is much better)

Interesting... Wht does that do to chamber size and CR? Isn't that .014 more than stock gasket thickness? Will that reduce CR about .5?

Thx & let me know if I'm coming from out in left field...

BTW - why does the longer PR & chamber height equal less noise?

918's will work, but I stress the importance of running a dual spring from a safety perspective. While I may not have broken a valvespring myself, I know all too many people who have broken springs, all of which have had their motors saved by running duals. For the relatively cheap price, you can sleep a little easier knowing a valve wont drop if you break a spring.

If you want to stay with Beehive springs, PSI also makes a set in their 1500 series that are rated for a little more lift than the 918's. Just more information to look at

PRC duals or Patriot Gold duals.
TSP sells PRC's.

I run that cam with the longer p-rods to reduce valvetrain noise (excessive sewing machine from to loose lifter preload) due to smaller base circle of cam.

.054 thickness is GM graphite stock thickness.
Chamber is 62cc
