Default 236/240 600/600 112LSA okay for DD?

is a cam around that size okay for a daily driver? i'll defintely need a tune, but anyone running a cam like this?

I was looking at the

Product Line: Crane Z Series Hydraulic Roller Camshafts
Cam Style: Hydraulic roller tappet
Basic Operating RPM Range: 2,000-7,000 RPM
Duration at 050 inch Lift: 236 int./240 exh.
Intake Valve Lift with Factory Rocker Arm Ratio: 0.600
Exhaust Valve Lift with Factory Rocker Arm Ratio: 0.600
Lobe Separation (degrees): 112
Grind Number: HR-236/353-2S-12

as well as the

Product Line: Competition Cams Xtreme Energy Camshafts
Cam Style: Hydraulic roller tappet
Basic Operating RPM Range: 2,800-7,200 RPM
Duration at 050 inch Lift: 238 int./240 exh.
Intake Valve Lift with Factory Rocker Arm Ratio: 0.605
Exhaust Valve Lift with Factory Rocker Arm Ratio: 0.609
Lobe Separation (degrees): 112
Grind Number: LS1 XER287HR-12

I'm personally thinking the 1st one seems like a good cam...pretty good power curve compared to the 2nd one.

are they good for a DD?

I bet you will be fine. Im going with a 236/244 .610/.620 115lsa +2. As long as the tune is good it should not be an issue.

i have the comp cam you are looking at, but i cant really tell you anything b/c my motor was gettin wore out before i got it. seems like it has pretty good low and midrange for a cam of its size, but its more of a top end cam.

Aussie LS1 set me up with a custom Comp Cams 236/238 113 with an awesome SD tune.

Pulls 60 @1,700 rpm in 6th with 3.9:1 diff gears no worries and idles beautifully with minimal lope, as has been said before it all in the tune. Note that my tune was very thorough entailing more than two days as my tuner and I are pretty pedantic about nice drivability and slow sped smoothness

Is this going into a blown application? That cam should be very easy to tune.

Do you guys think you could drive with this cam for a 600 mile trip? I'm asking because my buddy is putting a similar cam in his camaro and wants to drive from North Carolina to New Jersey (590 mi). What do you think?

You can daily drive just about anything. Just dont rely on it retaining stock-like street manners. And yes, patriot, TEA or PRC golds will be fine.
