i had it before i got my f10 and my car ran like **** it would stall and die on me all the time i hd to go get it tuned at mti which cost me 500 however every retune after that is 75 bucks its a nice cam once tuned but almost every other cam puts out more power. if you want a street cam with good power and relatively low maintenance i suggest my F10 cam or TR 224/224 122 LSa. I hope this helps. If you do go ahead with the hotcam you probably will have to get it tuned..or send it out you ecm by mail to TSP or someone to tune it.

Had this cam. It was decent, but there are much better cams out there. Yes, tune is the best thing. The LS6 cam is decent, but won't get you anything extra over the stock cam until over 4,000rpm - at least that's what I gathered from my reading.

i had this cam in my last ls1 2000 z28 m6 i never had it tuned it would try to stall but you can get bye without a tune for awhile. sounds mean as hell and it does make good power just not all those top end numbers like the bigger ones. for what you want i would go with it.

Thanks Pillipm - the duration isn't where the weakness is, the lift is where it is weak in my opinion.

I have it and I've been driving with it untuned for over year. However, every time I drive it, I wish I did have a tune!
I would get a better cam if and when I do it all over again.

Personally I say if its because of budget and your looking for something easy on your valvetrain then get it.If budget really isnt to much of an issue there's alot of better cams out there that are better performers.

Here's some reading.

And that is what you will find about this cam, alot of "I had it" or "I wanted bigger" because thats what I did too. I had this cam for about a year then went much bigger, did some desent numbers with it 370rwhp and 375rwtq through a 12 bolt with 4.30's and a tune sounded mean with the cut out open

It has served my needs. Mine has been in for almost 3 years, and was untuned for over a year. Very flat torque curve, and you don't have to spin the hell out of the motor to get it. It really depends on what you want from your car. Many cams are "better", but a lot of that is personal preference.

I'm getting ready to install a comp cam 222/224 .566/.568 112lsa in mine. Its very similar to the GM hot cam. Here is a site that gives a little report on the comp cam.

http://www.compcams.com/Community/A...?ID=-1044516358

The cam that is very similar to the GM hot cam is the comp cam XR275HR in this article. Hope this helped.
