Default Hows this possible, i must be missing something?

Ok so im looking at buying a shortblock and looking around. From what ive seen 6.0 blocks are cheaper then the LS1 blocks at least when buying new. So how is the 6.0 block (seemingly the only difference) around $2000 more expensive? Is a lil bigger piston and some more balancing work possibly that much more work?

The GM 6.0 blocks cost $640 IIRC, the LS1 aluminum blocks usually cost more.

You should give HPE a call - My 408 was a bit cheaper than that and a 6.0 iron block, hell I even had TREX a timing chain and oil pump on mine when it shipped and it was still less.

Part of it is the core charge for the LS1/6 block, whereas the 6.0L price is outright. So you have to add another $600 to the cost of the LS1/6 based shortblock if you don't have a core, putting it at ~$5000. Other than that, I don't know mang.

FLP is doing mine and the only difference in price was the core for the 6.0 liter block, otherwise it was the same. Might wanna call them.

HPE's site has the LS1 section under construction. I was looking at speed incs prices and they seem to be in the middle of the pack. What happened to speed incs 370 cube iron block with the diamond pistons and the forged rods and stock crank? The one in their shop car. I cant find the shortblock anywhere on their site. I beleive it was a lil over $3000 and they made 995 RWHP on it with a big turbo. I think that may have been plenty of shortblock for what i wanna do!

Yep, HPE is good - they will explain everything to you but sometimes are a little slower to respond.
