You're going to have to define "good for the street." You have to tell everyone what exactly you're looking for. Top end power? Low end torque? A happy medium between the two? Also, what other mods do you plan on making to your car? Are you going to tune it? What's the gear ratio in your rear end?

To get an idea of cams, you may want to look at the dyno results forum and check out the cam only thread that is stickied in there. There are a lot of dyno results of different cams in there including TR cams.

I have a tr224 and love it. With ported ls6 heads and a fast 90/90 it put down 428hp. I drives perfect with no surging or any other issues. Thunder racing is a very reputable company and put out some great products. Good luck.

If you plan on spraying i would think about a different cam.

I had the baby cam...TR220 in my '04 goat. It was awsome. Did it produce mundo dyno #'s...no. But did it perform as promised? Hell yes! It did what most of us 'street' guys want......power right from the get go...tire smoking tq right outta the gate! Made my car a blast to drive.

I have a 224/230....if that helps......Your best bet is doing a search or going right to the source and calling thunder.

TR cams are good.
Comp and Cam Motions are my two favorite cam makers, speak with Geoff at TR for a Comp or Alan at FMS for Cam Motions.
They can best direct you to the best cam for your set-up. they have a lot of experience with this.
Between my brother and I, we have run 4 TR or FMS cams, all with good manners and performance.
We just remove a TR 227/224 from his car and upgraded to a TR 230/224, it should be up and running in a few weeks.
I think that it is a good cam. Don’t worry about the 111LSA because it still has a short duration.

I'm very happy w/ my TR230/224 . Great midrange and good top end. Very streetable, and good at cruising in lower rpm's. Has a good idle too depending on what kind of exhaust you have.

I love my tr230, just ran an 11.85 with it and dynoed 399RWHP through a PT4000 converter. My mod list and dyno sheet is in the dyno section.

I loved the Trex, should have went back with a 220 or a 224 instead of a ls6 cam. I wouldn't have took it out, but my car is my daily driver and wanted something more friendly. I miss it.

I have the TR227 with full bolt ons...and mid length headers. Untuned it put down 380rwhp, and 370 rwtq. Great driveability, and power. It runs with cars with bigger cams pretty close. With a tune i would like to see 390rwhp with this baby cam. i would reccomend to anyone. I have driven 8000 miles 2.5 months with this cam with no complaints. The 114lsa idle is nearly stcok sounding through the exhuast, with open cut-out, it sounds badass.

The TR230 is a great cam for heads that are optimized for flow around the .575 mark. Mine kicks *** with AS stage 2 heads and a Fast 90 setup. The idle lope is definate at 875 rpm. I drive it hard and still get 18-22 MPG. This cam likes anything above 2000 RPM and pulls hard to 6500.

I have the Trex cam in my RX7, but it's pretty aggressive on the street. I've had issues getting it tuned smooth for low RPM cruising, but in my 4.10 gear lightweight RX7 it seems to be OK. I dont think i'd want it in my F body

I have seen a lot of good things from Thunder Racing. They have a wide range of cam's from a baby 220 to the mighty TRex. If you give them a call and let them know your plans and goals they will direct you in the right way.

Had my TR230/224 in for 2 weeks now, I absolutely love it. I have some surging at constant vaccum at lower rpms but it's nothing unmanageable. dialing in an idle was as easy as adjusting the set screw and resetting the TPS and idle bumped to 900rpm. Don't expect a sleeper, the lope is enough to turn heads

Other mods are FTRA, Lid, ported TB and MAF, FLP LT's, LS6 intake, duals, spec stg3.

Getting some KR with stock timing but I think it's just the 98 sensors, will verify this later in the week before I do anymore tuning.
