Are new lifters a must?

Are new lifters a must?
I will be doing a new cam soon. My car has 58K on the clock. Is it a must to change the lifters when I do the new cam. I do not plan on going to .6 on the lift.

Even if you were going over .600 lift, personally I wouldn't change them unless I was pulling the heads. And if you are intent on changing the lifters, might as well get new heads while their off!

if you pull the heads change them, cause they will rattle down the road on you if they dont already.
not worth pulling the heads just to change them unless you got one thats gone to the bad side.

a different perspective
I dont mean to be the devils advocate on this one but I just installed a new cam (TRex). I had about the exact same amount of miles on my car as you do. I did the swap without replacing the lifters. I drove the car maybe 500 miles and now I have a bad ticking sound that I am pretty sure is a lifter going bad. I now have to pull the heads off to replace those. On the bright side I am making it worth my while by putting a set of TSP ported LS6 heads on the car as well.

Im gonna have to say that unless you have a problem, dont bother pulling the heads to replace the lifters. That being said, if you do swap heads, might as well replace the lifters while youre in there anyway...

I have changed cams twice now, and have reused the stock lifters, granted my car only has 10,000 miles on it. However, as long as they are the roller type lifters you are probably fine with using what you have.
