Head gasket leaking again, any ideas?
Well let me give you the rundown. I put some ARE heads on my car about a year ago, used GM graphite 5.7 gaskets and GM bolts, well apperantly the gasket was leaking then, but it was going right from the water jacket to the #1 cylinder and burning out the exhaust, but it wasn't enough to smoke, and never left a puddle on the ground. Well one day the car got hotter then normal, about 3/4 on the gauge, I checked the coolant and it was a gallon low, so I filled it up, about a month later the gasket just goes out and smoking bad. So I took both heads off and swapped them out with TEA stage 1's, used a GM MLS gasket and ARP bolts, well now the same side is leaking, but it's making a small puddle under the car. Here's my question, when I sold my old heads, I had the deck checked to make sure it wasn't warped, and it was ok, so if the head wasn't warp, would the block still be warped? I am going to pull it off first thing next week to see what the deal is, but the only thing I can think of is the block is warped, but not positive. What do you guys think? BTW, no water was in the oil either times.

hey man that might work for you, that is the same stuff i use at my work. what i would do though, if you tear it apart, would be to get a brand new high quality straight edge and a set of feeler gauges. and check the block with the heads off, to make sure that there is no major warp in them. that little bit of money is well spent to save you your labor time.

Just use the gm mls gaskets and spray them with some permatex copper spray. Let it sit till tacky for ten minutes then put them on. This is of course after the surfaces have been inspected for straightness and cleaned up.
