Default Budget heads

I want to throw some heads on my, but I'm an almost broke college student. What are some heads that are relatively inexpensive that will flow well on my set-up? Thanks

Is this the prc stage 1 head? For some reason it only comes up in the heads/cam package section

That less than a grand is with the stock Z06 springs. You will need better springs if you are running a cam larger than the ls6 cam.

PRC's seem to be the nicest budget head out at the moment, but you can always get great deal on used heads that are superior to PRC's.... just research and look around. Dont jump into anthing to quick. Make sure your heads will go perfectly with the near future mods you plan to do!

Personally I don't like the hogged out intake runners on the PRC heads. Seems like you would loose a lot of low and midrange to get the top end #'s.

There is no heads in this price range ( used or new) superior to the PRC heads. The PRC LS6 heads are the finest LS6 head ever produced. The results speak for themselves. The flow numbers are very stong thru the entire range from .100 up to .600.IMO, the PRC line of heads are the best you can buy.The have top notch equipment and manufacturing. The R&D from them is always going 24/7.

I take it I was qouted because of saying you can find great deal on superior heads. With that statement, I was talking about aftermarket castings such as AFR's, ect. GTP seems to be a pretty nice head. No, you cant beat the bang for the buck that PRC heads offer, but you can up performance a bit buy going with something like TFS, AFR, ETP, ect......

While looking at the option taht are out for this member, Stage 1 PRC heads will be the best option.

I would love to see someone take 1 car Dyno before, then try out PRC's, Patriots & AFR's to see how they really comopare.

AFR's are in a different category then Patriot and PRC's... AFR's are an aftermarket casting while Patriot uses LQ4 heads and PRC uses LS6 heads

Just because they have an aftermarket casting doesn't automatically up the performance. The only one that may out perform the PRC heads would be the TFS,from the info and stuff that I here, but that remains to be seen.I know how much time they spend in the R&D department. The results from them will continue to get better and better.
