Dynomax has a 4" muffler...
Thank you for your interest in our products. We do have a 4" in/out 6" round Ultra Flo welded muffler #17225 16" shell/ 21" overall but this
is not a "quiet" muffler, it will have a throaty rumble to it.
For your nearest Dynomax dealer you can check our website at www.dynomax.com. If you have any further questions please feel free to contact us again either via E-mail at our website or phone 1-800-594-9815 M-F 8am to 7pm.

I have the spintech Mufflex 4", and I hate the thing. Its way way too loud for the gains it seems to have over a 3" Hooker catback. I was thinking of either putting the same Dynomax 4", the Borla XR-1, or a Flowmaster 2 chamber (Id love a 3 chamber 4", but I dont think they make one).
I'd love to find out what people have found with 4" muffler volume output....
thanks,
Chris

I have the 4" Mufflex with a 4" Flowmaster and it's very droney. It sounds good but the drone is sometimes annoying. I am probably going to order the Dynomax muffler today.

You'll be happy with DynoMax. Aside from the Camaro, everything I have has DynoMax systems on them. They just sound freakishly good.

I freakishly hope so, I went ahead and ordered the muffler. Iaford, did you have a different muffler on your catback prior to the Dynomax? Did you have yours go on the left side for some reason? Any idea if the Dynomax is lighter than the Flowmaster?

John, I had the mufflex just like yours, with the flowmaster,i put a dynomax on ,because the flomaster was to big to fit onder the fuel tank after i had it sumped.
I put it out the passenger side...straight flow no bends over to the driver side. <img src="graemlins/gr_xmas.gif" border="0" alt="[santa]" />

Im really curious as to wether the XR1 would be too loud. I know its supposed to be way-efficient, but it also seems like a total race-only muffler.
Those straight-thru ones are gonna be loud, although the spintech seems to accomplish ALOT of noise while *not* being straight through...

John-
I had the Dynomax on my SS. Liked it alot, good sound, zero drone. The only reason I went to a Corsa was for looks. The Dynomax I had wasn't stainless and the weld seams start to look rusty quick. I think the model was 17226 though.

Anyone know how much the Borla XR-1 muffler is?
How does a 4in. muffler compare to a cutout as far as loudness goes? Im in the market for a new muffler!

A cutout will ALWAYS be louder.
I've heard so-so things about how well the Spintech and Flowmaster 4" mufflers flow. From too many people. So I spent $69 to get the Ultra Flo 6" round, 4" inlet/outlet muffler. It can only flow better than the Flowmaster. My biggest concern? That it's going to be too loud. If it's not too loud I will keep it. I will still most likely weld in 1 or 2 cutouts too and do some testing.
XR1's are stainless and expensive. Check out www.jegs.com they have a very good muffler section.

I had a Dynomax SS Ultra Flo muff on my old 89 Turbo Trans Am (TTA). Went 11.87 @114 though it.
That muff was made from 304 stainless and polished to an absolute mirror shine. Very pretty!
No droan. I wish I had one on my 98 TA instead of the HEAVY HEAVY weight SLP dual/dual that is now on there.
