Default anyone maft tuned 30lb svo's

installing 30lb svo injectors on my 99 SS. looking for someone who has done this and tuned with the maft to correct af ratio. need an approximate setting (base) to start up car and begin tuining. If your running 30's let me know where you wound up at base and wot so i have a place to begin.

With my ported maf ends and ported throttle body I have mine set at 10% lean on the base and 4-6% lean on WOT. I gained a couple degrees of timing when I did my swap.

I started at 0-0 and tuned it to -10 base (E) and 0 WOT.

just curious why you are switching injectors? I have heads/cam car and started wondering about the injectors myself. Anyone have any data on a heads/cam car and what an injector change will do? Mine is a 2000 so mine are even smaller than your stock ones.

from what ive researched 98 is the only year with different flow rate injectors. 98's are like 28.4lbs per hour while 99 and newer are around 26.5. Initially I thought of changing to some used 98's but both cost and availabilty lend to buying new svo 30's. of course these are rated(and i had mine flowed to make sure) at 30lbs at 42.5 psi.(industy standard) however our cars use 58-60 psi. this drastically raises flow rate. the spray pattern is also finer at the higher pressure which makes me think it can only help with atomization.

nbm00ws6 and brotherj thanks for the info. I believe i will start at -10 and begin tuning. what i was afraid of is starting at 0 and having the initial fire up so rich it would foul a plug or wash out the rings. I really have no idea what to expect at the first start up with these injectors.

No worries, Gene. All you are doing with the MAFT on the base setting is modifying the reported load to the ECM, which affects timing. The computer will correct any base setting to ~14:1 within a few millisec's so really no problem on startup with the new #30's. That said, with the base on -10, you should see ATAP Ltrims at ~2-4.

I have a heads and cam car with a lot of bolt on's. I went a best of 11.88 at 117+ before I swapped to the #30 SVO's, after that I went a best of 11.63 at 118+ and ran a 119+ pass the same day. So I picked up a couple tenths after the swap.

Umm, I would have to agree. Stick with you stock injectors for now.

Injectors are:
98: 28
99: 26 (change over to returnless fuel system)
00: ~22 or something very small
01 & 02: 28

Most 2000 owners have problems just adding bolt on parts and need to upgrade injectors earlier.

Probably Bob2of3 would be you best resource for this question.

Hey Tom, if you dropped a couple of tenths, but still kept around the same mph, that was just a gain in traction . A MPH increase will show power increases, ET reflects traction. Glad they worked out for you though!

I gained 2 mph, went from 117+to 119+. The traction, 60 ft time was about the same, I went a 1.69 on the 11.88@117+ run and a 1.68 on the 11.63@118+ run and I made a 119+ pass the same day as the 11.63 pass.

May I ask where you got your injectors? I am thinking about upgrading mine too.

Hey better than pay $225+ for a set of #30 SVO(Which at the LS1 fuel pressure ends up around #36 in our cars) injectors, you might try e-mailing valvegod@aol.com and seeing if he has a set of factory GM #36 injectors. If he does he sells a set of 8 for $125 and you would end up with the same increase for half the price.
