I already explained the procedure in detail in a previous posting. What sense would it make to take the pump apart and then put the bolts in it BEFORE getting the pickup tube in the pump port? Think about it.

cant use a standard puller on an LS1 crank pulley, just use a 3 or 2 jaw puller...will need a shorter belt once you get the AC compressor off...

Try spinning the cam a few times, and slowly slide the rod in.

Should have got a Posi-Lock. Makes removing the pulley a one man job. Sears has them on sale right now. Is you A/C driven by the serpentine belt or does it have its' own belt. If it has its' own you can remove it. Why don't you fix your A/C system? You'll wish you had when summer rolls around.

Go pickup some wood 5/16" dowels from the arts/crafts section at wal-mart, cost you $1.50, go in easy as hell, just lube them with oil and slide them in. I bought those steel rods too, couldn't get them in, went for the wood ones, worked like a charm. You'll see when you look at them, I was sceptical of the idea of wood in my engine but when I saw them, there is no way they will splinter or anything.

if you do use pen magnents make sure you test them first. try and pick up something heavy and make sure the magnent is not going to come off. a few people have had the magnent get stuck to the lifter when pulling the pen out. this happened to a buddy of mine. we spent 4 hours getting the magnent off the lifter.
