Default TR230/224 re-dyno w/ 4.56 gears (stock heads)

We had time at the shop this evening to re-baseline the car with the 4.56 gears I added awhile back to replace the 4.30s in my 12-bolt. I also added a new 3.5" aluminum driveshaft at the same time. Here is what the car re-baselined through the y-pipe/cutout(no open headers):

Here is a comparison with the 430s/456s:
http://hometown.aol.com/jason99ta20/..._430vs_456.jpg

Needless to say, I was pretty happy considering I have beat the living crap out of the car in the last 3-4 months and the motor seems to be still going strong.

Open headers are worth a solid 10hp/tq on my car, but we didn't have time to make any passes with it like that. It dynoed 410rwhp/389rwtq like that w/ 4:30s.

That looks like all I'll be getting out of this setup. My GTP stage 2 truck heads arrived a few weeks back. I'll be installing those real shortly.

It won't be a direct comparison since I'm going to be installing JE pistons and Lunati rods at the same time. I'll also be installing a new cam, but I'll keep that quiet for the time being. This motor is being built to turn past 7k rpms. Hence the need for some better internals.

Jason

jason, i dont understand why you gain 10 RWHP with open headers and most lose power, esp TQ with open headers. i have a large cam of 230/230 .574 111 LSA and i am affraid of opening the cutouts (i have dual off the y-pipe). what makes your car different to GAIN power with the cutouts (open headers)?

gator, you have to look at the entire setup of the car. Cam selection, tuning, quality of y-pipe, etc. all play a big role in if the car will pick up power or not with open headers. 9 times out of 10 is has to do with the tuning.
