This is what my ARE 436 has in it, which I should be picking up on Tuesday. Yippie!
But, can someone explain what it all means in as much detail as possible? What internal parts are associated with each number.
Thanks

242 is the duration of the cam aka the length of time in degrees of crankshaft rotation that the valves are open. .610 is the distance the valves open in thousands of an inch. 114 lsa is the lobe separation angle. time in degrees of camshaft rotation that both valves are open at the same time. higher lsa is better for idle and emissions but makes the power peak higher. with the opposite being true for lower lsa. thats all i know pretty much. im not quite sure about the rotation part though, whether its cam or crank rotation. im sure someone will clear it up though. good luck with the new motor.

"114 lsa is the lobe separation angle. time in degrees of camshaft rotation that both valves are open at the same time."
Incorrect. It's the distance (in degrees) between the center of the exhaust lobe and the center of the intake lobe.
...And I'm not about to get into the whole what a tighter or wider LSA means debate.

Seemed like 1/2 were saying one thing and 1/2 were saying other.... I just know that a lower LSA makes the car sound lopier (is that a word? )
