Different pistons whether stronger or not are not on their own going to increase engine output for our LS1/6 engines. Raising compression by milling the heads to reduce the combustion chamber volume will show a marginal benefit but should for practical purposes be accompanied with various other modifications for a balanced package.

There is a piston that has been tested and picked up 20 horsepower with 4 degrees less timing over stock pistons. There are two sets out there, the test set, and the set I have. It was a joint effort that had a couple shops involved and had JE making the pistons. A local shop has the rights to them but since they are not a sponsor i won't advertise for them.

Are these the "coated" piston designs that are being explored. Give us more info'. Sponser nor vendor names don't have to be used to enlighten us. I would also be hesitant to advise someone from Kuwait to jump on a piston set that there are "two" sets of in the world at this moment. With the varied results that we see on proven headers from one car to another I'd have to reserve ultimate conclusion until widely proven results can support conclusively. It would be however a great breakthru to see an across the board improvement to support this claim. I've got to still rest on the intent of my initial statement that "stronger" pistons of their own merrit will not increase output.

It is true that you can make power with different pistons. So to say that you can't is not correct. Different skirt designs and the shape of the skirts, how there turned, can give you more power over the stock pistons. Generally however this is a very small gain, not one you are going to notice with the seat of your pants.

Abdulla - Give us a call and we can get you fixed up. We have a lot of LS1 pistons in stock on the shelf.

Thanks,

Yes they do, they have many varieties in stock now, you guys should be glad that chris went to work for Diamond, cause when i bought my LS1 low compression blower pistons over a year ago, they were a custom order, and cost me alot more than what they are charging now. There products are top notch, and are the only brand we use for custom pistons at the shop i work at, we buy them because they are tried and true, no problems ever out of a set.

BIGBOS - YES, we do sell low compression pistons for the LS1. They are part number 11503. They have a -8.6cc dish in them and with 70cc heads that will get you just about 9:1 comp ratio. These pistons will work with the stock stroke and a 6.125 length connecting rod. The cost on these pistons is $590.00 a set with the wrist pins included at no charge. These pistons were designed to take up to 20 psi of boost pressure. I have these on the shelf ready to ship. If you are interested in these pistons you can call us direct or you may want to try Thunder Racing, Futral Motorsports, JPR, Ramchargers, LS1 Motorsports or LG Motorsports. They all sell our stuff and maybe able to help you on that price.

Thanks,
Chris Gelineau
