If youre on a budget contact TSP. They have proven combos that make 430+ RWHP

i think, once you get over 425-430 the cams start to get to large so it will have a choppy idle and poor low rpm drivability. but that is subjective. some like it and think its fine others say it undrivable. it all a matter of what you call streetable. maybe you can find a few guys with different cams and see what you consider a good one. better to take a little time and get what you want, then get something you cant drive in rush-hour traffic. good luck

I got mine from Synergy, almost 450 ( hit 446hp) and 410 TQ. with long tubes, Fast 90/90 (w/ NW TB), 30# injectors, AFR Heads and 228/228 114 cam (custom made), and a good tuning. But be worn. . your stock clutch (if you have one) is goign to be slipping.

Texas Speed Stage 2.5 5.3L heads with Magic Stick V3 (MS3) camshaft should get you around 430RWHP/415RWTQ. Might want to check the Dyno Results and Comparisons section of LS1TECH.

You could also go with Patriot Stage II 5.3L heads. Both TSP/PRC Stage 2.5 and Patriot Stage II heads have similar flow numbers.

You could also go with larger camshafts like the MS4, TREX, Vindicator, Hellion, etc. There's always custom camshafts. Something like a custom grind from Cam Motion.

Don't forget about the rearend and transmission. Be sure to ride in some cars with heads/cams packages to see how aggressive you want to go if the car will see considerable street time.

Good luck and make sure you do your research. You may want to look into a FAST 90/90 intake manifold/throttle body.

The dyno Numbers where 370 hp 366 trq .

SLP LID

PACESETTER LONG TUBES WITH ORY

DYNO TUNED BY FC CUSTOMS

4.10 GEAR

ASP UNDERSRIVE PULLY

ITS HAS THE LS6 INTAKE AND THE THROTTLE BODY HAS BE PORTED.

.8078 REACTION TIME

1.852 60 FT

5.2611 330 FT

7.5452 594 FT

8.0520 1/8 ET

89.75 MPH

I JUST WANT THAT DAMN SEVEN SECOND MARK.

I JUST PUT CAM AND SPRINGS AND 7.425 PUSHRODS HARDEN IN . NOW I HAVE A TICK COMING FROM UNDER THE INTAKE , BUT IT BEEN THERE AND DOESNT EFFECT THE CARS STILL RUNS HARD AND PULL GREAT. I JUST THINK MAYBE ITS TIME TO CHANGE LIFTERS , BUT IF I GO THAT FAR I WANT HEADS . SO I GUESS WHAT IS A GOOD HEAD AND PUSHROD AND LIFTER TO STICK IN THERE AND WHAT KINDA OF GAIN COULD I SEE FROM THIS . WOULD IT GET ME IN THE 7 ON MY STREET TIRES?

Is the car an A4 or a M6?

LS7 lifters or Caddy lifters from SDPC
Hardened Cromoly Pushrods

As far as heads go you can get budget TSP or Patriot Stage II 5.3L heads for around $1200. The "premium" heads such as AFR and ET Performance go for about $2300-2500. Depends largely on your budget and your future plans for the car. I'd call Jon at TSP (Texas Speed). The Stage II 5.3L heads have shown gains of 40-50RWHP.

Very wrong, it depends on the overall combo, a high compression head cam car can make big numbers with a mild cam.

As many 450 plus rwhp cam only cars that exist, it shouldn't be hard to find a head/cam combo that works well. It's that word "streetable" that's open for interpretation.

I tried to be cheap and this is what I did for my motor:
I have a very budget oriented motor. I have the first set of Livernois Motorsports 243 (LS6) CNC'd heads (10.5:1). They were cheap at the time, 850.. shipped, iirc. I would suggest them as a good start to entry level, budget H/C set up. I have put the new custom grind cam in it last month from xXx Motorsports. The cold start idle is good and low RPM driving was much beter than my LG Motorsports G5 cam. Slight to no bucking when cruising in parking lots even with the AC on. It is an aggresive cam (G5X3 type of cam). This set up needed the added flow up top so I also have the 90/90 FAST on it (unported). This is when the budget went out the window! You could still make good numbers with the LS6, but it won't carry out the HP out up top as great as the FAST intake manifold. Through a Moser 9" and 4.11's, BFG Drag 315's mounted on chrome ZR1's, it dynoed 430rwhp. If i had dynoed with a 10 bolt w/stock gears I may have pulled out 25-30 more HP. With the tuning and cams you can go with now, it is very easy and every one can have a 450-460rwhp budget H/C car (IF YOU ARE A MANUAL! which I am ).

Why 5.3 heas vrs ls6 heads?

Also why does adding a bigger rear gear take away horse power?

Milled 5.3L heads increase compression from 10.1:1 to 10.75:1.

You'll "lose" a few rwhp with bigger rear gears but the trade off is well worth it.

milled 5.3l heads, big cam(such as MS3), .040 head gaskets, yellaterra ultralite rockers, correct length pushrods, LS7 lifters, & a ported FAST90/90 got me over 450rwhp. You'll def wanna look at upgrading your injectors and fuel pump too with that kind of power.
