bigger cam or a FAST 90/90
So I didnt drive my car for about two weeks, and it "gets" slow when parked.
I have a 228R cam on a 114 in the car. I have a Torquer II on a 112 with 7.25 rods, and a gasket kit in the garage on the shelf to install.
Im wonder what is best for the car. I really like the way the car is running now, and Im trying to determine what's best for the car.
Install the TV2 = how much more RWHP= little higher power band. (OR sell it )
or
Install a ported FAST 90/90=how much RWHP= about the same power band.
I guess the question is looking at my sig, Will I get more from the FAST 90/90 or the TV2 cam.
A little brain smoker for Sunday morning

if i were you i would do the bigger cam first, then put your ported fast 90 on. its plain just gonna pull harder than your current cam.

I'd go with the 90/90. sell the TV2 and put that money else where. with the 90/90 combo i would think you would pick up power all throughout the powerband with the biggest increase in the higher RPMS. better yet use that money you get from selling the TV2 and get the Fast intake ported/port matched by Tony Mamo! i wont give you a actual figure in rwhp i think you would pick up, but i think it would be a nice gain!

Phil, how much are your heads milled? What gaskets are you using?
Our setups are quite similar, except my cam is a 228/230 114 vs your single pattern, and the possibility of our mill/gasket specs being different. I am making 446/411 through 4.10s, A/F was 12.8 on the dyno, 12.7ish according to my wideband. 122mph trap speeds with basically a full weight car.
While sticking in the larger 232/234 cam will boost peak power output, you will lose some low-mid range power. I'm just interested in seeing how optimized your current setup is at the moment.

if you like the cam that you have and just want more power then ported fast 90/90 .....
just think of it this way .... if you didn`t have money for the intake would you install that cam as a forward step in cams and want more cam? or would you just stick to your current cam because it`s good enough and happy with its performance and think no thanks I don`t want to spend the money there then it`s intake and TB time.

This is surprising and differant than I would have thought.
the guys on here seem more to say go with the 90/90
Guys on the Corvette forum say do the bigger cam.
I would have thought the other way around.
Maybe if I saw more results from the same set up where guys just switched from the LS6 manifold to the ported 90/90, ID sell my cam package for a 90/90.
Any one have a dyno from before ported 90/90 and after ? Where did the power range move to.

These are my thoughts and only an opinion - I would say install the intake/TB combo first and this is why. As previously stated it is hard to say "exactly" where the power will increase but I personally believe that it will pick up in most of the area that the camshafts useful range is. I am gathering that you plan to put a camshaft in it later on anyhow so I would try the intake first and see what kind of power it produces and where. You never know you may end up being pleasantly surprised and put off the camshaft swap for a good while. Hope this helps.
