with a fairly tame exhaust system like the hooker or similar you will be very satisfied with the 228 on a 112. idles fairly well and peaks pretty early in the rpm range so you don't have to go way up there in the rpm range to get peak performance.

you goof up is actualy a better choice, only 4* positive overlap, I ran 9* and 13* on A4 with no issues, need a good tune. You'll like the powerband better.

Could you run that cam with a stock converter on a 99 corvette a4?

I been looking at this

224/228 .581/.588 @ 114 + 1

I have this grind brand new in box, my plans changed and I am going with a 408/turbo and don't need it anymore. Let me know, I'd let it go to you for allot cheaper than retail. Pm if interested

kingsey,

I just installed a 224/228 .581/.588 114 +4 in my 98 a4 with a 3600 stall. I cant imagine it with a stock stall. Car idles very rough -- whole car shakes at idle at 950 rpm. its pretty smooth running after that but I cant get the torque converter to stay locked up on the hwy even after deleting all misfire stuff. Car was tuned by Slowhawk on this board. Basically I ruined my daily driver with this cam. Going to the track tomorrow to see what it will do.

That setup should not have a problem idling at 700 rpms. The shaking part may be due to some worn out 98 motor mounts.

Motor mounts a probably tired but the engine running so rough is whats causing the shaking. Idle is rough and varies from around 750-1100 rpm looking for 950. Also bucks and surges under light throttle on the hwy. Also has hot start issues. gonna see if the tuner will look at it again.
