i know this may seem like a dumb question, but will a stock '01 Z06 cam pass smog in my '99 WS6? I know if that a stock Z06 car passes smog with the cam then it should in any F-body right?
Im just asking because my brother went with an MTI cam on his vette and has his stock one in the garage.
Now if this does work, is there any modifications i have to do? will the stock valve springs work? different pushrods, lifters, or what if i even step up to 1.8 rockers?
sorry about all the questions!!

Yea it will, just make sure you get it tuned... Not that much of a difference I don't believe.
Depends on how many miles you have one the car, but all of that stuff should work for the zo6 cam. I am pretty sure 1.8 rockers will work, someone correct me if I'm wrong. But yea you might want to do an oil pump for peace of mind while you have everything apart, might not be needed though.

no, its only smoggable in an SS, sorry!...... lol. jk. Yea, your good up to a 224/224 duration with a 114 lobe. Ive even seen people with higher cams pass smog but with a really good tune. The z06 cam has a different symmetrical grind or something (forgot what exactly it would be called), but i believe you would have to use different size pushrods as well.

im just looking to possibly do full bolt-ons to the car and hopefully a cam down the road. I want my car to pass smog, so what would kinda be the best performance cam yet emissions friendly?
With all this done, i will be getting a good tune done as well

1fastz told you. A 224/224 is generally considered as big as you can go and pass a sniffer. I wouldn' waste my time on the Z06 cam. A224 would really wake your car up and there are several 400+rwhp cars on this board running one. But you need the right combination of supporting mods to go with it to get these great #'s. A minimum of good long tubes, free flowing exhaust and step up to an LS6 intake or better. You'll also need a better set of springs and pushrods too. Port your heads and mill for a compression bump and don't forget a good tune....... damn, speed is addicting..... and expensive. It never stops
What I'm trying to say is take your time and do it right. Sorry for the ramble! It's early and I am just getting home.
