Default What are the BEST HEADS for a N/A 346?

I am running a 346 with a comp 228 cam .581/.581 112

currently I have a shave LS2 heads. Running Exhaust manifolds ... 3000 stall with a 3.36 gear.

Yes...my car has a CARB currently running 12.2@112

I am wanting to up grade my HEADS... thinking about AFRs (205,225) or ETP or CARteck or going with a 5.3 head from TSP or patriot.

I am also going to upgrade to headers... and Under crank pulley...

I am hoping to go mid to low 11s with heads, headers, pulley...

a 100 shot NOS kit... just to bust into the mid tens.

advise???

I was always a fan of true ported 243 heads no the "ls6 style heads"... after all, look at my times...

but lately the TFS heads have really impressed me! Better than AFR and what have you...

With the cam you are using I would say AFR's. I've always seen that size cam work really well with those heads. There really isnt a best set of heads. Depends on were you want your power and what cam you are using.

Trick flow 215's man.... Thats what im going to get when money permits. Ive seen multiple 500+ rwhp cars with these heads on stock bottomed 346 ci motors. There a little pricey and to my knowledge there 1.5 degree port angle chaange warrants a new rocker setup, but they musthave done it all for a reason as i have seen these heads consistantly make tons of horsepower.

I was on a budget, so I wet with hand-ported 243 and love them.

If $$ is no option, the Trick Flows are the most impressive heads on the market.....in my $0.02

BTW, you can go more agressive on the cam too and still keep drivability if this is your primary vehicle. I run a CC228/232 .600/.601 111LSA. It's docile enough for street use and has wonderful WOT power. The nasty idle is a side benefit

I love my PRCs for bang for the buck. If I had more cash to spend on my setup though I would have gone with TFS. I have also seen a few cars running the new edelbrocks ported that are making great numbers.

TFS hands down..

They changed the valve angle to permit the larger cams with out risking PTV clearance. Turns out they flow like mad at the mid lift range. -That's where the power is.

If you are on a budget and still want our heads. I suggest looking at our "as cast 220cc" heads. Retail pricing is $1699.95 !!

Check out our website for full details on these heads.

Is an aftermarket rocker setup needed for those heads as well? If you do than I would stick with AFRs for a budget.
