We are now a dealer for MOCAL and we have a great little product from them in stock: an oil cooler adapter for LS-series engines with a built-in thermostat.



The great thing about these adapters is that you don't need to run an external thermostat. This means you not only save some cash and need fewer lines and fittings, but your engine will receive oil quicker during startup since the oil cooler is bypassed directly at the block. If you plan on installing an oil cooler this is the perfect solution.

Will it work on a 05-06 GTO oil pan and does your oil pan baffle work on 05-06 pans?

It should work, however you would need much longer bolts than the ones provided. I will call the manufacturer and ask them and report back.

No, our baffle doesn't work with the GTO pan. We have one for the Holden front-sump pan, which is identical externally, but different internally so the baffle doesn't bolt up. One option is to purchase a Holden pan. It will bolt right up and we offer them brand new including the trap-door baffle and pickup, gaskets, crossover tubes, etc for $299.

why would you make one of these to fit a Holdeen pan..and not a GTO pan ?

The LS1 Holden pan has extremely poor baffling stock so we made these for the Australian market. The US GTO pan comes with better baffling and we haven't heard very many reports of oil starvation in those cars. If there's enough interest we'd consider making one for the GTO. The later year Holden vehicles (LS2, LS3) also use the GTO pan.

Do they make one for a LS7? My winter oil temps rarely get up to 160.

That's odd, I would have thought the factory system would have a thermostat built in.

This adapter should bolt right up to the LS7 pan. Where is the stock oil cooler plumbed to?

The LS7 has the standard "cap" above the oil filter that routes oil from one port to the other. It doesn't have a cooler, and the porting for the tank is on the other side of the pan.

I thought the Z06 had a factory oil cooler? Actually I know it does, I'm just not sure where it's plumbed to.

Yes, it has a big cooler in front of the radiator, and a dry sump system and tank back where the battery usually sits. It does not have a thermostat. I'm not sure how the lines run.

I haven't really researched oil cooler options for my car (CTS-V LS2) but this looks nice with -10 connections, slim design, apparent ease of installation.

Ok, I discovered that the oil cooler lines on the C5 and C6 are routed to the sensor pedestal above the oil filter (same place as the Mocal adapter). So you can replace the stock pedestal with the Mocal adapter. Not sure what the stock line size is though.

Neither the C5 nor the C6 had a thermostat, so this would be a very valuable addition for those cars, especially if you drive in cold weather.

I can't believe they didn't come with a thermostat from the factory. Mocal actually developed this adapter for GM, but I guess they didn't use it because they decided to go with the air/water cooler instead.

I just replied to your email, but I will post here for others as well.

The sensor location is at the angled protrusion on top of the adapter, similar to the stock location. There is about 3.5" of clearance between it and the block.

Thanks for the quick response. I'm running a DeWitts radiator with the left side EOC and it takes way too long for my oil pressure to come up with the set-up I have now. (Lingenfelter style adapter and 10AN lines). This adapter will cure that problem I'm sure. Will order soon.
