Default LSX454R 13:1 compression 11 degree heads

Sweet new engine from GMPP. Its the tall deck version with the new LSX DR 11 degree heads (DR for drag race).

From LSXTV:
It’s official: The new LSX454R from GM Performance Parts is the most powerful crate engine ever offered by the General. Rated at “750+” horsepower by GMPP, the real number is somewhere near 800.

Nice...sure that'll blow a few project budgets all to hell! Still say they should come out with an aluminum version...

$17k

But I think that GM doesnt have any valves that work for it yet. Custom TI needs to be used and they are mega. Std Stainless are too heavy.. Will be interesting to see what they come up with in the end.

Valve lift is in the 0.7xx range with 1.9:1 rockers

Default what is e-85

I am not informed, what is e-85, an aviation fuel. I have a 12:1 engine build coming out of the shop. Can I run 93 octane pump gas? I have sodium valves and hollow valves. thx

Corn fuel. Ethanol 85% gasoline 15%. When you see a "Flexfuel" badge on a car, it means that it can run on either E85 or gasoline. You must tune for the E85 when using it in a non flexfuel vehicle. It requires more of it to run properly. About 30-40% more.

E85 is a hybrid fuel that contains 85% ethanol. While a true octane reading on E85 is around 94/95 it still is a good fit for high compression motors with its better cooling properties. Fuel economy is the downside since E85 contains less energy than conventional gasoline. Another being that the filling stations that supply E85 is still fairly scarce, even living in the Midwest where corn production is high finding a station that carries E85 is pretty slim
