how to make a 5.3 fast????

The question looks so plian but what mean is, i was gonna do an ls1 swap but for the money id rather do a 5.3.Which heads/cam combo would i need to make this run like an ls1?
The motor will be carb i'm new to ls stuff im origanlly a ford guy.

search is your friend here, start with lm7 conversion or l33 (the aluminum version). what are you going to put it in?

lq9 with 5.3 truck heads and bolt ons would be a good start... or a single turbo with about 6lbs of boost

this is in a truck correct... i have seen a mean 5.3 in a camaro... not sure why but it was sick

k i'm picking up the 5.3 this weekend is it worth getting a ls1 intake,diff heads, or cam?

If you get a 5.3 off of the new body style chevy trucks 2007 and up, they come out with flat top pistons and also wit 243/799 heads. i can help you get that 5.3 to scream. my truck weight is 4600 and i have a 5.3 HC on stock truck intake and ran a 12.16@110 mph. i am making changes to it now and shooting for 11.7's NA, then i am stepping it up a notch and shooting for 11.4's with different HC combo
