Default Custom engine cover - 5.3L ?

My '09 Colorado came from the factory with the 5.3L engine... but no cover was included like most GM vehicles have for their V8s.

I wouldn't want a full engine cover, so I was wondering if anyone know of a source for custom engine covers?

I'd like to have a thin cover over the middle of the engine.

Any bolt on out of the box source for something like this?

Contact this guy on Ebay he can make you a custom piece or you can buy one of his standard pieces. http://www.ebay.com/itm/271871713837?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

OK, thanks. That areticle shows a lot of good ideas, although those appear to be custom made covers.

I was kinda hoping to find a bolt on cover that maybe I could trim so it's only covering the center of my engine.

Where's a good source for a standard cover?

I guess you need to be clear on what you need/want. In the first post you asked for a source for custom covers then in the last post you say you want a standard cover so which is it?

If you want a stock cover then ebay has tons of them.

Ideally, I wanted to be able to order something that would bolt on... all the ones in those pics don't look like they were ordered from some supplier although I could be wrong.

Maybe I need to look at stock covers and then get my dremal out and alter it so it's only covering the center portion of the engine... which is what I was hoping to be able to just order from somewhere to save myself some time.

Since this is not a mission critical part, eBay might be the place to get something like this.

The vortec covers only cover the intake unlike the ls1 ls3 Camaro/corvette that covers the intake and coils. http://www.ebay.com/itm/2002-Chevrolet-Tahoe-Engine-Cover-5-3L-Vortec-OEM-/311360550349?hash=item487e88f5cd&vxp=mtr

Thanks! I noticed those on eBay but still trying to figure out the mounting hardware... and I saw on another site where there will be clearance issues which is apparently why the Colorado V8 did not come with a cover from the factory due to the engine already being so close to the hood.

I may need to go check out some junk yards to see if I can obtain all the mounting hard ware and experiment from there

Anybody know of any suppliers that have anything that snaps on to a Silverado 5.3L engine?

I still have the '09 Colorado, but now I'm also tweaking on a later model Silverado as well...

2013 and the stock cover just snaps in place and has no screws or bolts.
