The 100mm lid has been on the back-burner for a bit unfortunately. We've been concentrating on the aftermarket casting we're getting ready to release late this year and just haven't had enough time in the day to do all we'd like to.

If we don't have a lid shortly, we'll be looking into other alternatives or other sources for a lid to offer our customers.

Thanks for the quick reply. I want to pick up the 100 mm MAF, but it just doesn't make sense to put an 85mm lid from someone else on it. I know there is a thread around here with countless people wanting this lid too....

We are working on a 100mm lid with and clear and carbon fiber option. (even a polished aluminum peice..LOL) The issue is clearance. You have to cut the lower airbox assembly to make it fit which is not acceptable to most people or redesign the whole system.

I think most people going with a 100mm lid would be willing to cut their airbox to make it work.

^^Agreed. Especially if it can be cut in a way to not be very noticeable. Like on the back side facing the engine. I know once I go 408 I'll be lookin into a 100mm MAF and will be needing a lid to go with it.

On the backside on the bottom is where the cut is. Even then its very tight. I did it for my 85 lid and MAF combo. It's very very tight...LOL

Honestly it needs to be re-shaped to make it work.

Maybe: it's not on the engine, doesn't sit above the engine and gets maximum air flow for cooling so I'm not sure how much heat soak would come into play. It was my first concern as well, obviously testing will need to be done.

Yes and is the radiator part of the cooling system or what? Do you know what the air temp will be ? Have you done this before and tested and now have some factual information to share? IF so great!!
Let me ask you this... All those Vic junior and Super Vic intakes.. what material are they made of? What about tunnel rams and hi rise intakes?? Are all those made out of composite material?
Save your eye roll until you have researched, experimented and found out that it can't be done. Then share your factual information with the rest of us and try and keep the attitude out of it.

I have intimate knowledge of my engine bay.. some might even say unlawful carnal kowledge..LOL SO YES I know where the lid sits.

Settle down dude............I didn't say it couldn't be done, I was just simply posing a question. Honsetly my IAT temps are already hot enough in the air lid to know I don't need more heat in there!! And yes I have checked my temps in there, quite a bit as a matter of fact. There is definately a reason people are not buying the aluminum intakes and the sheetmetal ones are supreme heat soaks according to many reputable tuners. I know this isn't the intake but it is part of the intake system. And as far as the radiator being part of the cooling system, don't make me laugh if you are trying to persuade me into thinking it's cool!?

LOL, point being it isn't throwing as much heat as the engine. It's an idea that's being looked at. The lower part of the air box does a decent job of blocking the heat. Tuners have a way of saying everything is bad when it takes them more work to tune something. I've had tuners tell me you can't use a bigger than 90mm Tb as well. It makes them work harder and they don't like it.

God damn I'm tired of seeing people cry about heatsoak. They don't even realize heatsoak can only occur after there is no more free flowing air moving thru. So what does this tell us? That you will not see any heatsoak related issues if the car is moving. The air does not stay in the aluminum components long enough to be effected especially at WOT. You might see a slight heatsoak while at idle on a hot day in traffic but once you start moving agin their is cool fresh air moving into the motor.

The reason most people don't buy aluminum intakes is because so many people are scared of something they are not educated about, heatsoak. more people talk about it that have never even owned a aluminum intake than anything. Tuners don't like then b/c some people can get them installed correctly without vacuum leaks.

I have seen plenty of cars with aluminum intakes without have a single issue. Plus if your that worried about it while at the track you can toss a ice bag on it, but I wouldn't bother.
