I bought the edelbrock 3847 elbow for my single plane intake. I am porting it to gain some more flow out of the tight bend. In the back if the elbow there is a speedbump on the roof. Should i port it out or use it?
heres what i have so far, ported the 4150 flange to match my sp 4150, lots of metal removed to do this. removed some material from the floor and back roof of the bend.

looks great! I was going to run that setup, but i think i will just run a 1000cfm TB on top of the intake! I have Seen people picking up 30whp over that setup.

for anyone that may want to know, I was told by edelbrock that the "speedbump" is extra material to bulk up the intake so you can grind on the outside of the intake elbow for cowl clearancing. And the divider is for proper air distribution to the front runners. Today I finished up the elbow (removed allot of material) and started on the intake runners. I might finish up the intake saturday, I will have to post up some pictures.

Have you run the setup yet? How do you like the manifold? I'm looking at the same for my LQ4/L92.

the elbow was designed to work with either 3 bolt tb's and a 4 bolt tb. The lower holes for the 4 bolt were incorrect for a standard ls3 throttle body. I took the elbow to a welder to fill in the offset holes, then i redrilled the bottom holes and installed time serts for strength, last I chopped off the top bolt hole for hood clearance. Worked on it till 12:30 thursday got the fuel plummed and intake on the car. Now i gotta get the new injectors dilaled in with a dynotune

My tuner has it on the dyno, he said its getting around 90 kpa at wot , i wonder if its because my fitting for the map sensor is right in between 4 and 6 intake runners. or because its tee'd with a pcv hose. I should probably mount it in the elbow

Running an LT1 k&N with 85mm maf to stock lt1 elbow and 90mm tb.

incase you dont know or figured it out, you have to cut that divider out.. i bought that same set up and know some one who used it on his 408 and lost 90hp over the aluminum elbow.. im FI so i jut cut that out of mine and it works fine for me.. slowhawk performance built the 408 and ran and idled lean and hot on the center cylinders or something. it must swirl the air around the wrong ways.

Woops Jeff pointed out my screw up. after a long night of installing the intake and drinkin beer, i installed the map sensor in the same vacuum line as the vacuum side of the pcv breather. It was screwing up my map sensor readings. He had it on the dyno with the pcv unplugged and said its reading around 96kpa.
I was told by edelbrock to go to town porting it but not to cut out the divider because it will cause the front cylinders to starve for air.

lost 8/10 hp accross the board, but picked up at 5500rpm to 7100 peaking at 503rwhp@6900.
now i got someelectrical problems with the cutout. some reason my wire 6inches from the actual cutout melted and blew the fuse. damnit. I was messing with it but it got too damn dark out to make any repairs. its got a rats nest of wires under the console from a long time ago(nitrous kit) that i need to clean up.
and rerout the pcv line. Its always something![Bang Head](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_banghead.gif)
still gotta get an electric wp, ditch the single 3" catback for dual, get true 90mm on the intake/air cleaner side.
