Default Anyone info on the new GMPP LSX-DR heads?

I can't seem to find any info on these, such as what port sizes it uses.

http://gm.wieck.com/forms/gm/previewpage?049517

http://gm.wieck.com/forms/gm/previewpage?049520

The LSX-DR Cylinder Head is designed for 4.125-inch-and-larger cylinder bores. Airflow can reach 430cfm on the intake side and 280+ cfm on the exhaust ports.

The all-new LSX 454 crate engine uses LSX forged rotating parts and a newly developed 0.635-inch-lift hydraulic roller cam, making this a monster LS engine in a classic cubic-inch combo. Through its four-barrel carburetor, it's rated at 620 horsepower.

Are these supposed to be LS7 ports? What rocker arms are they using with those raised valvecovers? Can you get those valvecovers seperate? Those are badass.

The ports are rectangular:

No idea if they are LS7, LS3 or some other style

http://gm.wieck.com/forms/gm/*query?...rce=all&page=1

Those exhaust ports look like NASCAR SB2, R0x and R07 ports, simply huge!

Looking at the bolt pattern on the cylinder heads, it looks like LS7...LS3 the intake bolt pattern is a little lower. However, I wouldnt be surprised if one had to use a dedicated intake manifold for these heads.

Yeah, the exhaust ports look a lot like the ROX stuff.

Well, the intake ports on these DR heads are about 3/8" higher than C5R heads, so yeah it probably requires a specific manifold.

I hope it left material at the roof for a nice spring.

My guess is that GM accidentally posted this early and we'll get all of the official info when SEMA starts this Nov.

It's a revision of the C5R head.......but it really is different in a lot of ways.

The intake pattern is unique. The face angle is even different. The bolt pattern is wider (thank god)

The chamber is larger than a C5R. The C5R was developed for a small cubic inch road race application.

To give you an idea of the port height difference the new head needs a .400 long valve than a C5R that has been raised to the moon

It requires a shaft rocker system. Jesel has made mine and I think that others have made them also. My Jesels work great!

The flow numbers mentioned are right on with what I have seen on a bench that I trust. My old C5R heads on that same bench flowed in the 390-400 range.

I have not poured the ports for volume. The ones that I have are a tad small in the cross section. Really the proof is on the dyno and at the track.

Robin, can you talk pricing yet or when we'll see any sort of formal GM announcements refering to specifications, release dates, pricing, etc...?

I don't get invovled in pricing. What I don't know won't hurt me

The specs should be out soon if not at SEMA. The plastic models were displayed at SEMA and PRI last year. I have been HOUNDING my sources about a release data as well as the matching manifolds. They have not given me any indications when they will be available.

I wil be testing a set of heads and a manifold on the dyno in the next month. I should say if all the parts show up

Pricing will come from GMPP or the Dealers

Robin
