LS2 into 2000 T/A
Not sure if this is the right section. But what is all that is needed to swap a complete ls2 motor into a 2000 T/A? I know i need a knock sensor harness, cam sensor extension, and the 58-24 conversion. Anything else? How do i get it to work with cable drive if i get an ls2 with an ls2 intake but no tb?

Check the sensor on the motor first as some LS2's are 24x and some are 58x.
Yes you will need a 4th gen pan as it is different then the GTO, TBSS, or Vette pan.
While the block is out do something with it... like cam, springs, and pushrods.
Good luck with the swap.

If my cam is still good, i'm going to be throwin that in there along with patriot gold duals. Its a 224/230 581 592 114 xer. If the cam is scored or nething I'll prob get a custom grind.

question, with the ls2 on the engine stand. For putting in the cam, can I flip the motor upside down so i dont have to worry about the lifters falling in and just do the cam that way?

You shouldn't have to worry about the lifters if the motor is upside down.
Avengeance: The LS2 heads and LS6 heads are the same casting. They are both cathedral so the LS6 intake will work on that motor. If he wanted to drop the compression, the 317 casting heads will definitely bolt up and work also.

I'm swapping a 05 GTO LS2 into my 99 Z28 as well, and the 05 LS2s have the 24-tooth reluctor wheel, so you're fine there. I'm also doing the ported L92 heads with a LS3 intake and a Comp LSR Cam (219/235 .607/.621) 113 LSA. I'm hoping for 450+rwhp with that setup.

Another question, I want to put in thinner head gaskets to bump up the compression but the car is a daily driver. So i dont wanna have to worry bout blowing a head gasket. What thickness would you guys recommend. and what thicknesses would result in what conmpression given rest of internals and heads are stock.
Also am i right in assuming my LS1 cam (224/230 582 591 114) will go into the ls2 with no problem?

I believe that 99.9% of all GTO's came with the 24X reluctor. I have heard of one or two with the 58, but i think it's a fluke. Your LS1 cam will work fine in the LS2. If you are keeping the 243 heads, the CR is already 10.8:1 - do you really need more?

i got a 6.0 out of a 06 GTO and was wondering what it was gonna take to swap it in.
im still debating on keeping the ls1 or going to the 6.0. im sure its got 2 melted pistons but havnt got it apart yet, dont know what direction to go.
was wondering all this my self. thanks for all the pointers guys keep them comming.

Also, if i get the 243s milled bout .030" and stay with stock thickness gaskets where would that put me compression wise and how would that affect pushrod length and limit in cam size. As long as my cam isnt scored, the 224/230 581 592 114 will be going into the ls2.
