Thinking about trying one. 440 maybe with boost. Tell me your good or bad experience? Would you buy one again?

 

Having one built right now. Ill let you know. HKE has used there blocks and also said they do good work.

My LS2 superdeck I is just getting finished up as we speak. I have heard great things about ERL prior to selecting them. They supply the superdeck I blocks to the Ohio Boys and MightyMouse(David Childress a well known member here). Sean has been great throughout my build. ERL has done more with the LS blocks than pretty much anyone out there and the Superdeck design is very unique and adds tons of strength to the deck of the block where alot of guys are seeing deflection(pushing water etc...). I went 6 bolt and highly recommend doing so if you are going to run high boost. I also had them o-ring it although i will be running 25 to 30psi in the future. Just in case kind of thing.

 

I have the superdeck 1, they were grear to deal with and there work is top knotch. Highly recomend buying there block and sending it to Kurt Urban for assembly.

 

How long did you have to wait for your block after placing the order? Do you have it running now or still in the building process? What cubic inch did you go with?

 

I hit the christmas holiday so that set it back, It was also there busy time. It took them 6 weeks from the time they got my core block until they shipped my finished block. I could see it taking half that this time of the year. I went with a 427, 4" stroke 4.125 bore.Took it out tonight for the first time. It was trapping 142 with only 8 psi of boost

 

Nothing against kurt but ERL can assemble your motor just as good. If you prefer using kurt great he is a very talented man, but there is nothing wrong with having ERL assemble it. They assemble many blocks. One of the faster ones if Im not mistaken would be Mightymouses. Either way you cant go wrong. I wouldnt go over 370ci. Mine is a 364ci, not sure what Koolrayz is using.

 

I agree ERL can do a great job of assembling youre motor. Kurt does a few things you wont find elsewhere thought. In the end it is who you feel the most comfortable with, You cant go wrong.

Yes everything we have used or gotten from ERL has been perfect so far. Very nice workmanship on absolutely everything.

 

Here is a thread with my build. I was at the dyno yesterday. Made 1029 SAE corrected RWHP in 86 degree weather with 18psi boost. Will post about it later in the week got to much work to do today.

I've used a lot of them and they work great! Even their "Dry Sleeve" holds up very well. Here is a boost motor with 850 HP with a Dry Sleeve block and my customer beats the crap outta it... No issues!

Can ERL built 460-470ci 6bolt block for 25+psi ??

I never heard about anyone saying bad things about ERL.

 

I've got a 482 ci ERL Superdeck 2 "6 bolt" short block already built on the shelf. It's a unique piece and if you're interested I would love to talk to you about it. Give me a shout if you are. This one was originally set up to be a 1500 hp build.

ERL, isn't your 500ci. Superdeck II a 15k shortblock assembly?

The only competition I would consider for that would be that Katech Billet block...

 

I have no backround on your experience, but ERL has been fantastic thus far in my build. Their work is truely world class. One of my friends and builders, Clay Forrester (LSmonter) uses a lot of their superdeck 1 blocks. These things are nearly indestructable. To my knowledge clay has never had an issue. Being a small business owner on the side, I understand that it is impossible to keep eveyone happy. It sounds like ERL made things right for you. So why do you feel the need to bring this up?? Virginia Speed isn't perfect either. Do a thread search and you will find that out.

 

Well to tell you the truth I'm not ready to for this anytime soon.

But please PM the price to the short block so I can know what my future plans.
