Default ERL Dry Sleeve Blocks - 4.185 ?

I have a 416 LS3 in my GTO right now.

I am thinking about sending the block out to ERL for thier 4.185 dry sleeves.

Reuse my Callies Crank and Rods. Just need new pistons.

Be a relatively cheap way to add some more bore cubes. (454ci)

What are the downside to dry sleeves ? Especially 4.185" in a LS3.

The car is NA only.

Thanks

Matt

I have been thinking about doing the same thing over the winter... I would want to use a small shot of nitrous.. I dont think I could at 4.185

That depends on your idea of a "small shot"!

100-200... What is the cylinder wall thickness at 4.185? And how more sleeve is there to handle the 4.125 stroke?

I want to reuse my Callies 4" Compstar Crank.

Does it matter if my block has been decked .008 already ?

A 200 shot is pretty hefty on that thin of a gasket. we have a little over .080 wall thickness per side of each cylinder so it's not the sleeve so much as it's how thin the head gasket is getting. Our sleeves are still a 5.800 sleeve length so you will be fine with a 4.125 stroke crank.

I does matter if the block has been decked .008 already but..... you can make that up with the piston or headgasket thickness.

Erl does good work. I just had my ls2 erl block sent to hke to be assembled. Just as long as you are not on a time crunch. They told me three weeks and it took six weeks.

ERL dry sleeve block, two stages of nitrous, and two years of running hard with no issues...
