Default Would you cam a motor with 122k?

I just picked up a car that has every bolt on imaginable, runs awesome and seems like it was well taken care of. I've been looking into the possibility of throwing a set of heads and cam in the car. Would you have any worries about a motor with that many miles or would you save the money for a shortblock down the road when this decides to let go? I plan to keep this car for a while, I have a bad habit of selling cars in a matter of months but this seems like a solid vehicle. Trans are rearend were just rebuilt so alll I need to worry about for now is the motor itself (if at all).

Why not? It might be worth spending a little extra $ to r&r the heads while they are off, too.

If it is in good shape, no problem.

I did mine at 196,000 miles.

No issues yet.

Does it burn much oil? Do compression and leak-down tests. Depending on your results, go from there.

If the motor was healthy **** yeah I'd do it. I would consider an oil pump and timing set as mandatory upgrades here though. Lifters and trays too if the heads come off. Also, any misc gaskets, like intake, TB, valve covers, and valley.

You could always freshen it up when you open it up.
