LS2 Pinging above 4000 RPM
I recently got into a 2005 C6 corvette. The car has a K&N FIPK cold air intake and a Bassani Cat back exhaust for modifications. Tune is OEM stock.
The car has the factory coil packs, spark plugs and fuel filter. The car runs California 91 octane chevron gas but wants to ping if i take the tach to 4000 or above RPM's. What should I look for to eliminate this pinging issue?
Thank You for your help. Any info is appreciated.

You hear the pinging or saw it on a scanner?
I would look for loose stuff around the engine bay that may be rattling around causing false knock. Also if you can, try and put some higher octane gas in there and see if it goes away. If it does, then it's something to do with the timing...if it doesn't then it's probably false knock being caused by something in the engine bay.

If that's an oiled filter on the K&N, you might want to pull the MAF sensor and see if it has oil on it... if so, it may be misreading the air flow and causing a lean condition (and therefore pinging).
If it is oily you can get some spray cleaner at chain autoparts stores... look for "Mass Airflow Sensor Cleaner" (sneaky name, that).
