Default will my cam meet my goal?

my gf bought me a btr stag4 na cam for my ls 2 gto for vday. I'm wondering if it will make the power I want. My goal is 450+whp cam only if I port my heads my goal 480-500+ whp (still debating on if I want to port the heads)
here the cam link http://www.briantooleyracing.com/nat...-camshaft.html

also if I decide on switching the heads what heads would you guys go with my budget (1500-2000)
I'm sorry if my question are kind of of dumb I'm new to lsx I'm coming form a 04 gt 2v making 617whp

Here are the parts I have for my 06 gto already
kooks step headers
kooks off road pipes
corsa cat-back
duspeed cold air
btr stage 4 cam na
ls 7 lifter
rocker upgrade
arp studs n gasket
slp underdrive pulley
fast 102 with a nw 102 tb
ls6 ported oil pump
one piece ds
mgw-p

I know I still need a clutch also unsure on the brand im going with as ill be spraying a 150 shot also

It's gonna depend on the dyno...car may make that number or it may not, but as long as it's trapping what it should then it's good to go

The reality is that this cam will get you awfully close to (if not above) 500 HP at the wheels with ported/aftermarket heads. At the same time, with OEM heads, your piston/valve clearance will be VERY minimal....more-so if the heads have to be milled.

I'd recommend going with a set of aftermarket heads with 12 or 13 degree valve angles.....maybe even have them milled to yield about 11.5:1 compression with .041" compressed head gaskets.

MMS220 Heads and see if Brian would let you exchange your stage
4 cam for his stage 2! MMS 220 Heads with 227*/231* made 480+ RWHP
With a 5.7 LS1. With a 6.0 you should clear 500+ RWHP and be MUCH
MORE Driveable with a smaller cam. Stage 2 is 227*/234* Stage 4
Is 235*/242* Big difference if car is daily driver!

If it were my car, and I had your goals, I'd go with the package in the link, shooting for about 11.2:1 CR with a cam in the 228* to 230* intake duration, 112* LSA.

http://www.texas-speed.com/p-3961-pr...m-package.aspx

For your stated budget, aftermarket heads are a bit of a reach, and that 235* cam will have drivability issues for a stock displacement engine with less than 11.5:1 CR.

IMHO, of course.

Before you get to ahead of yourself.... don't use LS7 lifters!! Invest in morels 5315 lifters. Much better quality and smoother operation. The 225 trickflow head is nice... but as always you'll need a intake and a GREAT cam to meet your goals.

I love my BTR III I wanted the IV but Brian said it wouldn't fit if my 241's were anything but stock. They were cut .015 and he said no go without fly cutting.

Well just curious have you checked into a ls3 head and intake combo? When I had my 06 m6 gto.
I ran the torquer 2. 232/234 cam. Ps longtubes and magnaflow catback. Was at 423 rwhp. Put on a ls3 intake with the stock 42lb ls3 injectors. Ls3 heads with thinner gaskets to keep my compression at 11.0
And I jumped to 461/423 na. Intake and heads were not touched. Car ran consistently 11.6's at 118 in hot Midwest air. But I remember I only had 1k. In the heads and intake/injectors setup. Might save some money going that route and have some left to port the intake and heads. Just a thought. I had enough injector also at 461 rwhp. Just not sure if you would have ptv clearance with that cam you have.

Tha cam should be fine to drive with, it's similar to a CompCam that I fitted to friends manual LS2 GTO.
Specs are 235 243 .621" .624" 113.
Cam change took car from 13.9 to 12.20 on the track.
