Default PRC heads for LS7

looking for opinions on the prc 285cc heads for my 2007 Z. i have already purchased these heads and getting ready to install them. I was at a shop today that does a lot of LS performance and they warned me against using these heads. from everything I read, everyone seemed to be happy with the quality and performance. is there anyone with results or knowledge of these heads?
thanks!

What are you using the car for??
Why the 285s and not the 265s....just curious
What other mods do you have done/for the car

Sounds like a great combo. I would do a custom cam for the heads and intake combination for optimum power production, imo. GL.

I have PRC 285's with Ti intakes, stainless exhaust, stock rockers with a trunion kit and .675 springs, I have no issues. Great heads.

You shouldn't have any issues with those heads as long as you use the intake lash caps. It sounds like they are trying to sell you one of their heads or a company that they work a lot with. If you or your shop have any questions feel free to give us a call. We would be more than happy to put your minds at ease as these really are great heads.

From what I read, The PRC LS7 heads are a GREAT head. A magazine did a LS7 head dyno challenage and PRCs really shined. GREAT prices to. WIN/WIN

Yep, within 10-15 flywheel horsepower of Mast 285/305, arguably the best LS7 street head (allpro too but they weren't tested).

That test helped my decision on PRC

In 2009 or 2010 I put a set of PRC heads on my Corvette, sold the car a couple of years after install. 7 years later the guy is still driving the car without a single hick up. I heard all the crap about PRC way back then too. As stated above, someone trying to sell you their heads.

Maybe I'm a fantastic back yard mechanic, who knows.

PRC heads are about $2-3K less than alternatives like MAST or AllPro and about $500-1000 less than TFS or AFR.
I paid $3100 for mine with the .675 spring and TI intake options added.

I am still trying to decide between the Mast 305cc and the PRC 285cc heads.

I just haven't seen anyone running the PRC with a solid roller setup.

I have crower shaft mount rockers and don't know if they offer the machining required for this setup from the factory.

MAST would be the way to go with the Solid Roller setup. You could get away with just the hollow-stem intake as well. Weight is less of an issue with the SR and that would bring the price down to the same universe as the PRC heads.

You'll love the heads. They're on tons of cars & perform very well. 400+cfm capable for $3,000ish! We stock them with hollow stems as well & will be adding a solid roller option shortly.

If you will PM me with the shop that told you this information.

Thanks

I won't hold you to it...but can you give me an idea of "shortly"?

Are we talking 2-3 months or late 2016?

Oh there's even a bigger version of the PRC head coming. That would be a better comparison to the MAST 305 runner head. Side by side same runner size I'd put the PRC head against it anyday.

Oh and the new runner wont cost anymore than the other runner sizes.

Shaft mount ready in less than a month D9HP!!

These PRC heads in addition to accept shaft mount rockers will definitely be a big seller then. Great news TSP!

I'll hang out until then - without question. I've seen the results of the 285cc first hand.
