Default Blended BR285s (12degree), Ported MSD, Stroked w/.720” lift cam

Midway through a “basically” similar build (w/434 sleeved LS3) w/ my 2,995lb C5.
Ported/blended 12 degree BR285’s, Ported MSD, Compression 11/1 ish for pump gas, headers and a massive lift cam (.720”/.675)

Curious if anybody is running anything similar and what kind of results/driveability they had after pro-tuning. Any vId clips , etc....

The cubes and heads will manage the cam lift .720"/.675" cut on Hardened 8620 Alloy (made for extreme/high spring pressures). All supporting mods....drive train, fuel, cooling, suspension, (AP Racing) brakes, underway as well.

It is being built at my request to be able to be driven by my wife or “a valet” despite the power potential. I wonder if 700hp (on engine dyno) is possible/ or if 10.9 is possible on street ET’s while maintaining street manners. I will let ya know soon but that’s in the works so I am fired up.

If there are any good 700+ NA write-ups that I may have missed (or that were interesting) and/or if anybody has had experience driving a similar power/weight ratio car. I will get all the pics up when it gets finished.

Going from a head/cam C5 (420/415) build.

Also the cam seems big to me but I trust the builder.

Mirek,

I went 10.7 with 538 rwhp 346 in a 3400 lb RW f car. I figure about 640 bhp.

Built at ls7 honed out to 428 CI. Never got a good dyno due to bad wheel slip, but motor should be around 800 bhp. Ran a 10.1 in the same f car. That one my wife can drive except she hates the manual steering.

I would tell you to do LLSR cam, warm up is a little dicey, but you can get better valve open area and better intake vacuum which drives better when it's warmed up.

I plan to do head upgrades at some point, but too busy. PM me an email I can send you some idle and driving clips.

PM sent ! Thanks.

I will look up that LLSR cam for reference.

Also the car has 4:10 rear gear to make things even more batsh!t.

OP, you're starting out with some really great hardware. Work with a few of the experts around here and I think you will more than surpass your goals! You have the right idea. Huge flow, high lift, and decent compression (though I think you could get away with a little more). You can keep the cam on the smaller side and still get great power.

Good luck with your build. I look forward to reading what the experts think for cam specs and power potential.

Look at those 4.155 bores.

Thanks man. Have my torque tube rebuilt stronger and paired it with a Mcleod RXT. Just hoping it behaves in traffic and idles around 850. The 2.250 valves with that much lift should put up some numbers indeed and I assume I can safely spin it up to 7000 which will be cool.

"a valet"
Thats some BAT..... Crazy LOL I would Never consider letting someone I didn't know very well drive my custom built 396" in my C5.
You are a braver/richer man than I. Looking forward to your results. I would guess 15-18* of overlap would be pretty tame with
your displacement and combo and still eclipse 700 HP @ Crank.

IDK about all that and luv Darth. So he's at or around what that 434 830 HP made. Not. Not enough cam nor compression. With a 427 + combo 12.0+ comp and a cam with around 250 + duration. John B build is 800 at the crank. 402 to 418 needs around 13+ comp and a 260+ cam to make 800.

Maybe mistaken on Darth's cam but this is general spec's for 800 and a larger cubed combo.

Looks like it will be a crazy engine once completed.
I got a 408 and fitting a 242/257 660 .655 113 LSA +3 camshaft which I'm crapping myself in driving once completed.
Going from a 12 degree overlap cam to a 23 degree is a big jump for me.
What diapers are best to use guys?

800 bhp with an Na lsx is very achievable these days. 1000 isn’t “that hard” if you have money
