You are correct. it might be easier to do i the way they do cylinder heads, though, if the pistons are not domed.

Thanks Darth, I have a small dish and valve reliefs and something didnt seem correct about the engine builders claim they were -5cc when the same piston but flat top shows -5cc
My pistons are -7.5 cc actually so the way the engine was built it had 11.4 : 1 scr and a 7.98 : 1 dcr
Ill end up with 12.17 : 1 with the head gaskets ive ordered and thatll take my dcr to 8.63 : 1
Could i do better?

I don't know your fuels as well as US fuels. If it were US 93, i'd say take it up until your DCR is 8.72, likely right at 12.3 static.

Our ratings different to yours , i use 98 but thats the same as your 93... My quench is at .036 with the .038 head gaskets , would i go thinner head gasket?

No, don't go thinner. Your right where you want to be for quench. Just send it.

will do thanks...
being an iron block it'll generate more heat so I'm happy with it being a tad less scr/dcr. I'll have flex fuel sensor ser up so have some back up.
Im hoping with new cam and higher comp I'll pick up the 8rwhp I need to hit my goal and car should have a lot better torque curve.
my prediction is 30rwhp/25ftlb

I expect a great torque curve too with the new adjustments.
What you will notice though is how much quieter cam motions low lash solids are.
The 5 minutes I heard mine I was super impressed.

It varies based on what is requested. Just like hydraulic lobes. Maybe I am not understanding the question the way it is intended?

im asking due to the 1209 springs I have will accept .710 max lift . Any more and I'll need more spring.. will it be ok to keep under .710?

Mick, I’m pretty sure 1209’s are good to .750” unless you’ve set them up at a different height?

You also have lash and deflection which will reduce lift vs nominal

Springs typically have a bunch more clearance to coil bind than the rated number too you just need to measure.

Did you change cam specs again?

yep .... I was happy how it drove with last cam and it having 36 overlap, so I dropped lsa to get closer to dcr target and it'll be at 35 overlap...

Chevelle I had my head guy shim them to 190lb on the seat minimum. At that I can go max lift .710..

the lifters arrived today today after getting rebuilt, I'll have all parts tomorrow except for the cam.
im thinking I'll drop lifters in, heads on, lvalley plate and put it in the car or is that stupid idea? Just wait for cam and do it all at once?

That's good.
Still a cam motion right?

29 degrees of overlap warm is going to drive good in your 454.
You pretty much have same valve events as before except for more overlap.
I would wait for the camshaft and do it all at once.

When do you think it will all be back together?

old cam ivo 18 ivc 60 evo 67 evc 17..... overlap 36 scr 11.30 dcr 7.93
new cam 19 55 71 16 35 12.10 8.63

Itll be in the car running about 10hrs after i get the cam.... I just need everything ready by november for the conrod straight sprint. So once engines in it'll be getting interior upholstered
Then off to suspension tuning/track set up guys another week ,they'll set suspension up and mount fire extinghuisers , tow hook, harnesses. My new flat underbody panels after that, camaro bonnet vent and ready to rock n roll . I think ill crack 187mph

Looks good to me Mick,
Have you ordered the camshaft yet?

You're going to feel a massive kick in the shorts in the midrange from that DCR. Very nice work optimizing, sir.
