i have a couple on order.... When i have the 3 of them together ill pick which one goes in, or one of my kids can pick one. Im leaning towards the biggest one soi have a good showing at bathurst and if summernts are on try get the trophy. Also really want to get my 500+rwkw goal
Im not in a rush , still trying to decide what to do about clutch, its either get a rebuild kit or buy a triple plate, also been looking into a dct set up using a bmw box.
Also into planning what im doing to the engine in 18months, will oring/reciever groove heads twin turbo, one small snail and one big one, and start at 7psi and keep upping it until it blows or it scares me, but thats for another thread

The stick shift is great but because im wanting to do at least one track day a month the dct would be great. I called the guy in pomgolia about it but the prob is gettin someone in aus to help me , thats the hard part..
I also thought that there'd be a stand alone controller for the 8 and 10speed autos by now. Theyd be great also and hold big power stock...
Hope something gives so can do one of them

This may be a silly question but, which way should the small hole in my solid lifters face. I would have thought towards the oil galley.
But they wouldnt fit if that was the case,

What lifter you running Mick? Link bar lifters will only go in one way in these LS blocks.

Crower link bar solids.. They have 1 small hole which faces towards the valley, i was wondering how the oil gets fed to pushrods, thought if the hole faced the oil gallery youd have pressure feed... They can only go the one way....
Cams in, timing chin, oil pump ,cover and balancer are on,.... decided to throw the 255/269 114.5+4.5 in , see how tht goes, then in 2 months ill swap the 254/266 in

Mick, the oil is pressure fed through the small hole up to the top end. The .0015 to .0020 clearances (hopefully) in the lifter bore to body is enough room to feed the oil into the lifter and up into the pushrod.

Theres only a spot for one bolt. I’ve got two in my 434 pickup tube, but I had to buy a girdle from Improved Racing to use the second hole. It’s not needed honestly.

Kinda like a belt AND suspenders thing.... it's a redundancy thing....

They Do have stand alone controllers for the 8 speed. But GM sells it as a package with the trans.
https://www.chevrolet.com/performanc...ons/8l90-e-lt1

That controller is made by PCS - Powertrain Control Solutions I believe its the 2800 model But I am not sure if they sell it for an 8 speed application yet to the public. https://www.powertraincontrolsolutio...on_Controller/

I have seen that GM has them , problem is the harness wont marry with my car . They do the package for cars that have no computers, about 1978 and earlier

Im setting lash now and thought id ask the question. Cam motion cam card states .000 cold and .010 hot. I presume thats for alloy block and heads.
With my iron block and alloy heads id set cold lash at .004 which allows .006 expansion leaving me a hot lash at .010.
Sound about rite?

my dart iron block was .004 difference.
I set mine .002 and it goes to .006 hot. So if you want it at .010 I'd start st .006 cold

Im on the rite track then, thanx mate. Ive set to .005, split the difference.
The head bolts that you have to do up thru the valley windows suck big time.. Having to lift the lifters up to get at the bolts, was on the last one and didnt realise id pulled lifter out of its hole and the F ing nut fell down it... I had made sure the lifter wasnt totally out its hole on all the others. Thought i was doomed, then put a magnet down the hole and out it came with the nut...

Id have it up n running tomorrow but no point in it really. Covid lock down starts tonight, 6 weeks and can only leave the house for food, medical needs, the essentials. Have already been in semi lockdown for 3 weeks. Basically only had covid cases in quarantine under guard, but the guards were bangin the ladies ,sharin smokes , and now we are up to 700 cases a day...

Setting cold lash about 0.04-0.05 is about right for an iron block and aluminium heads for the cam motion low lash.
Should be near 0.10 hot.

I can't wait for this covid nonsense to be over.
